Here's the next-to-final installment, Round 8. Round 7 saw the first win for Freddy with the most unique installment in the entire franchise - New Nightmare. Round 8 brings the final installments for the Nightmare & Hellraiser franchises, as the final round willl be a face off of reboots.

Current standings:

Michael - 2.5
Leatherface - 2
Jason - 1.5
Freddy - 1
Pinhead - 0

My vote goes for FvJ. Despite it's overwhelming campiness, and yes a beyond normal poor cast, it still combined the elements that I always thought i'd see in a FvJ other than maybe Kane Hodder as Jason, which is a drawback for me. Ronny Yu's lumbering-Frankenstein Jason is not one of the film's finer moments. But it is pretty much the campiness and the most popular mainstream of each franchise by basically being 'Dream Master' meets 'Jason Lives'. As a Nightmare on Elm Street film, it's one of the better installments imo. I don't think Dream Master is any better, and it certaintly surpasses at least Dream Child & Freddy's Dead.

Hellraiser VIII comes next. Probably one of the most underrated & forgotton films in the franchise, although this is not a return to the Clive Barker-themed Hellraiser, it is the best sequel since Hellbound imo. It provides a good, intriguing story, with a well-rounded cast, as well as bringing Lance Henriksen into the fold, resulting in a low-budget, low-radar, surprisingly enjoyable film. Certaintly not one of the great horror films of all time, but as a sequel it works, and it also alludes to the prescence of the Cenobites, and doesn't OD you on them. The twist at the end is also unexpected.

Jason X comes next. Now this is a film that is universally hated. But I liked it. Certaintly not loved it by any means, and I understand the despise of it, but I think it was just a fun popcorn film. It didn't take itself seriously (like they could at that point), and it just makes fun of itself, has fun, and just rolls. Body count's high, chicks are hotter than ever, Uber Jason is a bad ass, it's nothing more than that. Not one of the finer installments, but just a fun flick for me at least.

Halloween 8 pretty much is one of the worst films ever made imo, and certaintly the worst in the Halloween franchise. It makes Halloween 5 look like Halloween 4 as far as i'm concerned.  I know alot of people still enjoy the Jamie Lee Curtis-starred opening, but for me it's bittersweet. It's the strongest segment of the film, and shows what the film could've been, but at the same time shows how lame it was to invite her back just to untie everything H2O tied up, and to just kill off the most series-signifcant character, other than Loomis. The rest of the film is just a wash. The cast is majorly forgettable and by the numbers, with Busta Rhymes earning possibly a Razzie for lifetime unachievement award. The script/plot is a dumb idea and should've never been done. I'll never forget when the 'MichaelMyers.com' idea leaked to the internet during production, how the Akkad's flat out denied that they were doing that film, and that it was a disgarded idea.... yet that was exactly what they were doing, and they just retitled it 'Homecoming' and later 'Resurrection'.  All of those Rick Rosenthal defenders who still think he drove the Halloween II bus, pretty much put them to bed with this film. I'm pretty convinced that Rosenthal was a ghost-director for that film, with Carpenter still calling the shots imo, after H:R.

"Hellworld" typically was not released over here, or that I know of.

Didn't enjoy "Freddy Vs. Jason", "X" or "Resurrection".

Too many sequels by this point, it was a chore to watch the 3 of them.

Henriksen and "Hellworld" for me. I loathe "Freddy vs. Jason" and my opinions on "Resurrection" have been pretty well publicized. "Jason X" was ... fun.

This round is horrific. Makes me truly realize how these franchises became shells of their former selves.

I voted for Hellraiser, and thats because I haven't watched it.
