Beatles, without a doubt. They were evolving pretty fast from a boy band to serious musicians. Rolling Stones stayed the same through the decades, they haven't even learned a new chord. I like some RS albums, but most of them are pretty weak, with 2 good songs here and there. I appreciate the Satanic album, cause that was the only time they tried to do something different. Anyway, RS don't really touch me emotianally or musically, while Lennon, McCartney and Harrison wrote some of my favourite songs and albums. Who could top Strawberry Fields or Abbey Road?

I'm honestly suprised this is even close. Without The Beatles, The Rolling Stones never make it to the 70s. The Beatles are the most influential rock band in the history of rock music. Maybe somebody else would have done it had they not, but the fact is they did it.
The problem most people that like rock have with The Beatles was their early catalog. If you want to look at a band that grew and changed with the times, you can't look any further than The Beatles. They grew as musicians in such a short period of time.
I can't believe anybody would choose The Stones as being better or more influential than The Beatles, but I can see liking their music more for some reason or another. As much as I like Aerosmith and GnR (both heavily Stones influenced), I don't like The Stones that much. hey have a few songs I really like, but overall they wouldn't make my top 50 bands (I think) - certainly not top 25. I don't even own one of their albums.

I've always liked the Stones better. The music is just better in my opinion. I dont' care who influenced who. I don't care who the most influential band ever is. I like what I like. I own 9 Stones albums compaerd to 3 Beatles albums. The Rolling Stones are a better band in my opinion. They're likely in my top 10 -15 bands. At one point I had the Stones ranked in my top five. I like the Beatles but they dont' even rank anywhere in my favorites list.

If you asked me to name individual songs, I would say I prefer the Stones. But the Beatles have better albums IMHO. It's a toss-up, so I went with the chickenshit vote, aka "null vote."

From a historical perspective, no one will ever top the Beatles in rock and roll. No way and nobody is even close. From their influence on pop culture, to their staggering commercial success, to their artistic integrity, to their constant high critical acclaim. They were the perfect storm. I absolutely love all their albums from Rubber Soul through Let It Be.....the White Album being my favorite.
That being said, if I had to go to a desert island and choose the Beatles catalog or the Stones, I would take the Stones...as long as I don't have to listen to anything past Some Girls!:haha: So I guess, in the end and on topic, I like the Stones more, but it is really an almost impossible decision for me to make.:smile:
