Re: The BATMAN Thread
Yeah, Robin was the least of everyone's worries. Knowing Schumacher, if he's been given #5, we'd been treated to King Tut and the Clock King.
Batman Triumphant
During the filming of Batman & Robin, Warner Bros. was impressed with the dailies. This prompted them to immediately hire Joel Schumacher to return as director for a sequel, but writer Akiva Goldsman, who worked on Batman Forever and Batman & Robin with Schumacher, turned down the chance to write the script. In late 1996, Warner Bros. and Schumacher hired Mark Protosevich to write the script for a fifth Batman film. A projected mid-1999 release date was announced. Titled Batman Triumphant, Protosevich's script had the Scarecrow as the main villain. Through the use of his fear toxin, he resurrects the Joker. Harley Quinn appeared as a supporting character, written as the Joker's daughter. George Clooney and Chris O'Donnell were set to reprise the roles of Batman and Robin. However, when Batman & Robin was released with negative reviews, Warner Bros. was unsure of their plans for Batman Triumphant.
I think Catwoman is in the mix now with Rachel Dawes being dead. Bruce doesn't have the love interest anymore, and is also emotionally vunerable.
Hence the "Talia Al Ghul" being suggested alot... and also the trilogy (ring) to it, since the next film will likely be Nolans last.
They could try to introduce Catwoman as a viciously evil, and sadiomasochistic character
I think Nolan might pay a little more respect to the comics than that... "Catwoman" almost always ends up being a good guy in the end.
...Of course your way might make a better film.
Re: The BATMAN Thread
It'd have to be tweaked. I know Nolan would have to do major work to restore Bane's credibility as a smart villian. He was turned into a bumbling fool in B&R.
It also would be unnecesary to even do the side story of the apprentice, seeing how Batman is already the villian in the Nolanverse, as Gotham thinks he killed Harvey Dent and the other cops.
Re: The BATMAN Thread
I think the film would actually work better without the side story, just the single Knightfall story arc tweaked to fit the Nolanverse. It wouldn't even need much in the way of change to work really, really well. Yes, Nolan would have his work cut out for him if he wanted to re-introduce Bane as a credible villain, but Knightfall had what The Dark Knight had in terms of dramatic momentum: escalation. I think Knightfall would be a perfect trilogy capper.
They're not going to outdo Ledger's Joker. Period. Depp as Riddler is stunt casting, plain and simple. Besides, Riddler was already (one of) last franchise's part three villain(s). He's too similar to Joker. Penguin would have to be given a crimelord angle that would make the film as a whole too similar in tone to Batman Begins. I think either a Knightfall or Son of the Demon type film would work best following the precedent set by the last two entries.
Re: The BATMAN Thread
You certaintly have a point with Knightfall, but I think if Nolan is going to make his vision a trilogy, he's gonna need a more 'our world' criminal.
Unfortunately options like The Riddler or the Mad Hatter are basically 'Joker-lite'. Which starts to really limit how many are left that are 'believeable'.
That's why I think the option of Mr. Freeze being brought in an altered form, could be an interesting play. If Nolan is going to go out with #3 and a burnt out Batman, it would be great to pull a 'former good guy' like Freeze who questions his motives (ala TAS), and Batman the way he is now. The battle becomes Freeze trying to pull Batman further to the dark side, and Batman feeling Freeze is not all lost and trying to pull him to the good side, all the while Freeze's idea of a cold, dark, nihilistic world is being backed up by Gotham's turning on Batman, making Batman question is Gotham really worth saving?
Re: The BATMAN Thread
This just in...
The brother of Batman Begins and The Dark Knight director Christopher Nolan is facing murder and kidnapping charges following his arrest by FBI agents in Chicago, Illinois last month.
Matthew Francis Nolan, who was also under investigation by Chicago authorities over his alleged involvement in a $700,000 (£486,100) bank fraud scheme, was taken into custody on suspicion of the 2005 killing of Florida businessman Robert C. Cohen.
The warrant for his arrest was originally issued in Costa Rica, where 40-year-old Nolan was reportedly posing as Cohen's potential business partner. However, authorities claim Nolan was actually hired to recover the $7 million (£4.86 million) Cohen owed another Florida mogul.
He and his accomplice, Douglas Mejia, allegedly kidnapped Cohen and attempted to extort the cash from his family. Costa Rican officials allege the pair murdered the businessman when the bribe failed.
Mejia has already been convicted for his involvement, while Nolan is being held in Chicago until he can be extradited and tried for the charges, according to the Chicago Sun-Times newspaper.

Woah, pretty effed up. Glad it wasn't Jonah. The beginning of that article is pretty misleading for anyone who knows that Chris Nolan's brother Jonah helps him write his screenplays.
Re: The BATMAN Thread
Guy's if you read all of the"Knighfall" Arc... you'd know Bane was the side story... If the "back-breaking" hadn't took place in that story, then you'd only ever remember the "Anakin Skywalker" - evil apprentice part.
^^ Gee, that's horrible I mean Francis also could've just asked his brother if he was desperate for a loan.
If that had been Chris himself, I'd be throwing my DVD's out the window as we speak.
