Re: The BATMAN Thread
How quickly we forget about Christian "Shaft" Bale, Heath "10 Things I Hate About You" Ledger, Aaron "Any Given Sunday" Eckhart, Michael "Jaws IV: The Revenge" Caine, and Gary "Since I Don't Have You Video" Oldman.:
I refer back to my 9:10 ratio against comment, for Angelina performances in films, it's significantly different for all those others you just named <Minus-Eckhart, because I'm not familiar with his work> .
Kate Winslet is the actress we deserve, although not the one we're going to get.

Re: The BATMAN Thread
I rate Pitt as an actor, he's not among the very best and his performances can be hit and miss but he's far better than he sometimes gets credited for due to him being pigeonholed into the 'hunk' category his whole career. As for Jolie I'm not sure, I've never seen any of her more serious films but nothing I've seen her in has blown me away (acting wise anyway ). I'm not sure why people are hoping for Catwoman anyway, I think she'd be an awful villain, for Nolan's Batman at least. Riddler's the best choice imo even though he and Joker are similar(ish) characters it could work well, I could see Pengiun working as well, provided Nolan gives him a more realistic back story than Burton did.
The more you think about it the more you realise what an almost impossible mountain they have to climb to try and top Ledgers Joker.

Axlin08 wrote:Angelina Jolie is the only logical choice to play Catwoman imo.
Accomplished actress, has "the look", and they'd want a REALLY big name for that role - she's the most obvious choice imo (kind of like Depp & The Riddler).
Also, like others have stated, The Riddler needs to be turned into more of a 'Zodiac killer' type of villian.
tejastech08 wrote:I don't want Jolie anywhere near Nolan's Batman movies. Hell, I hope he NEVER works with her on any movie. She's such a big star that she's a caricature. When I watch her, I don't see a character. I see Angelina, and of course automatically think "Brangelina."
Well that's because you're like Gotham's citizens, a sucker for the media.
The whole media overexposing of Pitt & Jolie, is just that. It didn't stop Pitt from getting an Oscar nom, and Jolie from getting a critically raved performance in The Changeling.

I want to personally take a leap, and say I think Jolie would be a fantastic Catwoman. If Bale's as good as an actor as everyone thinks he is, he won't have to worry about being upstaged.
I actually don't mind Pitt at all. I've just never thought Jolie was worth a damn as an actress, and those annoying lips are awful to look at. So when I see her on screen, several things go through my mind: "haha, it's Brangelina, oh look at those awful lips, and wow this woman cannot act..."

I think Catwoman is in the mix now with Rachel Dawes being dead. Bruce doesn't have the love interest anymore, and is also emotionally vunerable.
They could try to introduce Catwoman as a viciously evil, and sadiomasochistic character, that Batman finds himself attracted to, in a similar fashion as Burton did, but not with the Selina Kyle setup.
I think it could be very interesting to have Bruce/Batman losing his gripe on reality after Rachel's death, and finding more solace in the 'freak' villians, and fitting in less and less in normal society. In other words, he becomes more 'Batman' and his own legend, and less Bruce Wayne. Catwoman knows this, feeds it, exploits it, takes advantage of it, and uses it to corrupt him a bit, to make the audience start to question the Bat's own motives. Of course he comes around, but it could be interesting.
This would work with Cat. A Poison Ivy, like i've said before, should be turned into a deranged environmental terrorist, if she's brought into the Nolanverse.

Deranged environmental terrorist sounds similar to Poison Ivy in Batman & Robin.

I've actually found myself agreeing with most of that
I think my main issue is that Nolans and Bales Batman is physically as tough as it gets pretty much nobody could match him in a fight, he's been trained by the best and then beaten them (in BB). As a result a face off in combat between say Batman and Catwoman is pretty much a non event. If it was done as you say though with her almost corrupting him making him act as he wouldn't usually, without him seeing her as an enemy it could work. However as a result of that I think you would need another villain as well to flesh the film out, and I was hoping they might just stick to one in the next film.

Bane could beat Batman, but Schumacher made such a mockery of that character that I don't know if Nolan would want to bother bringing him to the screen again. As for the other villains matching up with Batman, ya just gotta have them cheat their asses off like Ledger's Joker in TDK. He uses the knife in his shoe, a crow bar, guns, other knives, etc...pretty much everything including the kitchen sink.

Yeah I forgot Bane, as you said not sure he's a likely contender for a Nolan film though.

Yeah, but a realistic one. One that puts bombs in subways, or blows up chemical testing facilites.
Oh and she also doesn't walk around in a green leotard with red hair, and love potion/poison flowers.

That last line makes me LOL. Good old B&R.
