I'm definately gonna pick up his book even if its just to throw a few quid in the Hitmans pocket as a thank you for all the years I enjoyed watching him as a kid.
He also records the incredible toll the business takes on its workhorses: he estimates that twenty or more of the wrestlers he was regularly matched with have died young, weakened by their own coping mechanisms, namely drugs, alcohol, and steroids. That toll included his own brother-in-law, Davey Boy Smith.
^ Doesn't look like he's avoiding the issue. Go and read some of Brets columns on his site, around half of them are his tributes to wrestlers that have died in recent years - Big Bossman, Rick Rude, Mr. Perfect, Owen and Bulldog... Damn shame seeing so many on the list from an era that I loved 
Downloaded Wrestlemania 9 and gonna watch it now. Features all the greats and then some

Don't make me bust out with an Undertaker Tombstone on your ass, just like UT did to Hart back in the day!
I'm sure Hart was lovin' the taste of UT's balls on that one.

Bret is and will always be one of the most talented in the ring but when he opens his mouth that is one problems start. Like many said this movie is very close to certain wrestlers around the time of Bret's golden age. I mentioned this before but if you haven't seen it you should watch Beyond the Mat. It's scary how similar Mickey's character is to Jake the Snake's real life.
When I first saw The Wrestler, I actually checked around to see if they inspired it after the life of Jake Roberts.
