First of all the media are idiots looking for something that simply does not exist. Bono and the guys in U2 are friends with teh guys in Coldplay. Bono's commenst were pure sarcasm. I eard it, it was obvious.

Secondly U2's numbers are interesting. Lower than I thought for sure but I think the album will hold strong especially when Magnificent hit radios. I woudln't be surprised to see the numbers spike once that song hits radio. One of U2's absolute best songs ever. This may be naive of me but I think opening week sales were efecetd more by Get On Your Boots as the lead singel than the economy.  Maybe I'm way wrong

Last but not least: HOLY SHIT!!  http://360.u2.com/

9:mosh::mosh:   Check out the stage design! I'm so going to the Chicago, Toronto, Boston and New York shows.

Thats going to be mindblowing.

Unfortunately they haven't announced all their tour dates yet. What in the hell are they waiting for?

Definitely not going to multiple shows, but will certainly be at the SF/Oakland show.

The single is apparently dropping pretty fast.

U2 Debuts At Number 1 In England

U2 No Line On The Horizon has topped the UK chart.

U2 have stormed to the top of the album charts with the 10th number one album.

No Line On The Horizon, the band's 12th studio album, which was released last Monday, went straight into the number one slot of the Official Album Charts yesterday.

The achievement makes the Irish rockers one of the top five album chart acts of all time, claiming joint third along with Madonna and the Rolling Stones.

The Beatles are just ahead, scoring 11 number one UK albums in their career, while the all-time record goes to Elvis Presley, who had 15 number one albums.

But despite U2's success in the album chart, the lead single from the album, Get on Your Boots, slid further down the charts two weeks after it failed to make the top 10. However, their 2006 singles compilation, U218, continued to climb back up the chart from number 39 to 17.

The band's first chart-topper came in 1983 with War, while their most recent success was with How To Dismantle An Atomic Bomb in 2006.

Neemo which playoffs do you speak of in September? 16  But for sure man. If(when) I make my way out there we'll have to grab a beer or 8.

As for Get On Your Boots I actually really like it now. It's a great sing along and I love the pace of the song. It was #1 on radio here for four weeks untill this past Saturday whe it got knocked to #2 by Kings of Leon.  I know alot of people who like the song but I also know alot who don't. As far as a lead single goes it was a bad choice. It's too much of a  grower. Lead singles need to grab you right away. I honestly think Magnificent should've been the lead single. Followed by Breathe and then maybe Boots or I'll Go Crazy....

I don't know all the numbers yet either(that's not really my thing) but I doubt they would've sold 500K in Canada Neemo. That seems like alot. Then again when GOYB was released to radio it had over 600 plays on day 1 in Canada as compared to roughly 900 plays in the States. That's weird considering the States has ten times the radio statiosn we do so maybe Canada is more pro U2 than the US.

"My philosophy has always been tiered pricing," Fogel said. "Given the (economic realities) in our world, I think it's more important than ever. So what we're going to do is we're going to have 10,000 tickets for every show at $30, the GA price on the (floor for standing only) is $55, and then most of the tickets are in the $95 range and then maybe 10 percent of the house at $250."

I also just got an e-mail  from u2.com confirming my "Horizon" status. What that means is I get first crack on the presale. They levels below are "Breathe" and "Boots" So it's pretty cool. 3 levels of presale then the public sale.  The fans in Amsterdam who are also at Hirzon level had their presale today. They all said it was easy and they were basically able to pick and choose where they wanted to sit. Kinda like a  store closing it's doors to the public.  I guess my yearly membership fee at u2.com has paid off big time. 9

Bono in Chicago? We may have to get together and argue in real life. LOL. Sept. 12 at Soldier Field. That will be the best thing that happens there during football season, I can tell you that. I just asked my wife if she wanted to go and she shrugged. Money's tight these days.
