Re: Faith No More Reunion CONFIRMED

I was hugely disappointed in it when I first heard it (Angel Dust), but it's grown to be one of my favorite albums ever. Listening to the lyrics really helped, Land of Sunshine goes from ok to amazing when you really hear the fortune cookies and Scientology questions in it. Kindergarten and Be Aggressive also become something special (and very different) when you pay a lot of attention to the lyrics. Some of the samples are really cool too - Shostakovich being used in Malpractice is my favorite once I recognized it.

I don't know, but with the exception of Smaller and Smaller possibly A Small Victory, it's one of the best albums I own imo.

If I find the time I may up it for you, unless somebody else does.

Do you at least like Midlife Crisis?

Anyone besides me see them on the GNR/Metallica tour in 92? Patton was wild, climbing the lighting rigs, just going nuts. They played Surprise, which I just went crazy for. It's such a brutal song.

Yep, Saw it in Indi.  Awesome.  I'm still pissed that I never got to see a full FNM headlining set though.  So hopefully this whole thing stays together long enough to get to the States.

Wow, I Love Small Victory.  It also had a video with a lot of production value for a FNM video, sorta surprises me that it was never a hit..

I still think it would be hilarious if there was a big swerve and Patton wasn't involved and Chuck Mosley was singing. That's the kind of thing those guys would think was funny (Patton included).

after posting on this thread.. i've been living on KFAD and AOTY....

amazing stuff... at the same time they were doing completely different shit.... they were also becoming a tad more accessible to rock radio (digging the grave... last cup of sorrow..etc)
truthfully.. i don't think there's a bad song on album of the year.... mouth to mouth...ashes to ashes...collision...great record
king for a day...not so much.... there seems to be a TON of filler on it...
maybe this is why i was initially so disappointed by the martin departure.. it sounds so.... anonymous.... get out is just awful... and other than 3 or 4 tracks(which ARE amazing).... front to back, it's pretty sub par to my ears...."happy birthday...fucker"..

I think I like KFAD more than AOTY, AOTY is good but it feels so basic. There's no real surprises on that album. KFAD does have a considerable amount of filler but to my ears it sounds more ambitious than AOTY, and at its best moments its better than anything on AOTY.

Evidence, Star AD, Caralho Voador, The Last to Know, and especially Just a Man.

In purely Patton terms, KFAD is where I think he sounds the best in FNM's history. That album and Bungle's California are my favorites for his vocal performance (not lyrics - that goes to Angel Dust... and maybe Tomahawk's first record).

i agree.. definitely more ambitious... for FNM... which is a good thing.
vocal performance for me... definitely one of his best...
it just seemed a little...i dunno... blah.. for FNM... pretty damn good for any other patton release....
aoty is  not even close to "ambitious".... but it's a damn good, cohesive album....
lots of killer vocal melodies... heavy shit... soft shit... it all fits together and the music is sick....
kfad seems like 14 random tracks...ironically like angel dust with jim martin surgically removed.  which is a disservice to the more mediocre tracks on the record. someone like jim could have added a bit more to the sound.. which i think the songs desperately needed....i think that's why AOTY sounds the way it does... and then it was the end.
trying to pull off what they did with AD and TRT... and KFAD.... the metal ish stuff mixed with random bits of other shit didn't have the same effect, sonically... that it did with martin playing fiddle... so they went for a simpler.. more streamlined sound.. then maybe between the infighting and growing bored with their newfound limitations..  they called it a day....

Yep, and having seen that show at 15 has ruined me from ever being overly impressed with a concert lineup for the rest of my life.  $35 for lower bowl too.  Damn I miss the 90's sometimes.

I was 19. Metallica was un-freaking-believable that night. Blew GNR away, in my eyes. Lots of people left after Metallica. I remember that. My buddy who I went with fell asleep toward the end of GNR.
