Re: Faith No More Reunion CONFIRMED
by no means am i saying that jim martin is even in the same league as patton....
he's not exactly a brilliant or gifted musician... and i agree that they took more chances after he left....shit... i've never even HEARD martin's solo album.. and i can guess what it sounds like....
i think that FNM brought out the best in him.. even if he didn't care for some of the music.. the music he made with them was, IMO the best they made.. he was also just as important as anyone in creating what i believe to be their signature sound... without him... FNM sounded like any other patton project
..and CC...
that fortune cookie would've made my MONTH
Yeah, I don't even remember how I came across the Martin album to be honest. But I had to have it because it has a version of Surprise! You're Dead on it. And I thought Oh shit, Jim was the metal guy in FNM that's gotta be HEAVY.
We're basically saying the same thing, but looking at it from different ways. Angeldust is my favorite FNM album too, but I look at the later albums as more "creative".
And Like Bri said, the guitar wasn't a lot of the sound of FNM, all due respect to Patton, but the three guys that were there the whole time make up the sound to me, it was there in a large way before Patton and was still there after Martin left. It was altered, given, but it was there.
Re: Faith No More Reunion CONFIRMED
i guess..... you know that moment in time with ANY band... you hold onto that...
alot of people do it with guns... metallica.. van halen.. the eagles....alice in chains....sepultura.....motley crue... the chili peppers etc
i do it with certain bands... i usually let go with some.... but that feeling you had at a certain point of time... part of you holds on.... i guess it's confirmed i do it with FNM....
even if i was very into their later stuff.. and i remain a HUGE patton fan.
they could put out a cd of him reading the ffucking phone book and i would buy it....
but regardless.. i remain a FNM purist...
...although you'll never get me to give $ to EVERY member in FNM history.....
( courtney love had kurt murdered... and i hope she gets asshole cancer...)

Ha, you'd go broke, it sounds like every person who lived in San Fran in the mid-80's and wasn't in Metallica was in Faith No More at some point before they were signed.

I will say if Billy Gould wasn't involved I wouldn't support this reunion or go to a show. FNM has awesome bass playing throughout their entire career.

If either Gould, Puffy, Roddy or Mike werent featured I wouldnt bother. Each of those guys are integral to the FNM sound. I wont pay to go to Download to see them though. If they dont do any gigs asides from that in the UK I'll be gutted beyond belief but Im not going to that Emo fest. I'm holding out for a 3 night stint at the Brixton Academy
I see your username on Mouth of The Ocean. Im over there as Jizzlobber78 - dont post much though. Its funny seeing the one guy who is gutted about the reunion though.
Re: Faith No More Reunion CONFIRMED
I'm listening to The Real Thing right now. Fuckin' great album. I love Zombie Eaters! FNM isn't really a band where I invested in the individual members like GNR, it was just the music. It's funny to see the wide opinions on the band's music. For me, Angel Dust is by far my least favorite. It's just like a tidal wave of noise to me. Weird, eh?
Anyone besides me see them on the GNR/Metallica tour in 92? Patton was wild, climbing the lighting rigs, just going nuts. They played Surprise, which I just went crazy for. It's such a brutal song.
Patton also played with Bucket in the short-lived Moonraker. That is some odd shit.

Just listened to Angel Dust - an all round classic. A tidal wave of noise, - that is weird considering some of the stuff BH has done! Give it another spin, and another, if you still dont like it, give it another!
Cannot wait to see these guys, I just hope it lives up to expectations. I caught Patton touring the first Tomahawk album and it blew me away. Met him in a record store the same day, strange guy.

I always thought Real Thing was their best, although there's alot of Angel Dust fans that'd disagree with me.

Oh, yeah, Bucket has recorded some shit music, no doubt.
I would listen to Angel Dust again, but I disliked it so much I sold it to a used CD store. I could use another copy, but I'm not buying one.
