The only good I found in Superman Returns, was that it helped me forgive parts III and IV being made, at least III had Richard Pryor and the kick-ass fight scene  in the junkyard between Evil Superman and Clark.

I just don't know what they were thinking when writing Superman Returns. He goes missing for five years because astronomers tell him that Krypton may still exist but it shows clearly in the beginning that the planet gets destroyed and he's Superman, wouldn't he know the astronomers are wrong? And how can we forget the Super-kid storyline (boy oh boy)? Now there was a part where Lois gets hurt bad and Supes uses his x-ray vision on her body to make sure she was okay. If he can do that, wouldn't he use x-ray vision to know whether or not, he knocked up Lois before leaving Earth?!

SR sucks. The franchise should have stopped with Superman 2.

^ Me too. I love the superman concept. But the very reason I loved the new batman films is the reason I couldn't get into superman returns. I feel these new batman movies are written by people that understand the characters very well, and that's NOT the case with this superman movie. There are a couple of things in it specificlly that just don't add up to characters from superman to me.

But i'll be interested to check out another movie.

Bryan Singer is a self-professed Superman fanboy. He ditched the X-Men franchise in order to make his dream movie, Superman Returns. And it sucked. I think it was a case of him loving the character too much that he couldn't see the faults with his ideas for the movie.

I don't think Singer is even a Superman fan if you ask me. He refuses to touch comics and the Reeve movies are his only experience of the character, the guy himself is kryptonite to the franchise.

Superman 3 was the first film I seen in the cinema, being a mere 4 years old. That woman who got eaten by the computer scared the shit out of me, gave me nightmares for weeks. My mum was telling me about how I thought Richard Pryor hilarious in it big_smile  That junkyard scene was pretty cool as well.
