Izzy created alot of those 'stand the test of time' riffs... but anyways...
Wrong.

yeah chord progressions, song structures and vocals recived the writing credits...we dont know with 100% certainty where the riffs came from
Re: Former GN'R Manager Alan Niven Counters Axl's Claims
Slash himself credited Izzy with starting alot of the song structure, and Slash added to it.
Go read his book. No one knows where the riffs came from. But if I'M WRONG for crediting Izzy, you Mikka or anyone for that matter is just as wrong for crediting Slash.
I personally think Izzy started the grooves (riffs), and Slash enhanced them, and brought them together. Made them bigger so to speak.
Have you ever wondered why Slash's solos sound so limp and streamlined with VR?
No Iz
Re: Former GN'R Manager Alan Niven Counters Axl's Claims
well i dont think that VR or snakepit sound limp or lacking riffs...nugnr ont he other hand....
and yeah starting songs comes from chord progressions, strumming patterns and song structures....you dont always need a riff for those...though sometimes they do come hand in hand

Re: Former GN'R Manager Alan Niven Counters Axl's Claims
Axlin, please elaborote which famous GN'R riffs and solos were written by Izzy without Slash. Besides YCBM.
Re: Former GN'R Manager Alan Niven Counters Axl's Claims
izzy's rythm work helped make slash's solos special
good rythm work and songwriting like izzy brought to the table seems to fly under the radar while the lead guitarist gets worshiped for his solos, which are useless if the song sucks.

Slash's comments were generalized.
Which leads me to believe quite a bit of the catalog.
