Re: Christian Bale to star in Terminator 4

I'm not knocking the guy for prior films, its just the forcefeeding aspect that I hate. Ever since our country got dumbed down this decade, we have to be told who to like and it is a huge turn off. Thats why we got fed Lohan, Hilton, Vin Diesel, etc. and now Christian Bale. I do not like manufactured movie stars that come rolling along out of the Hollywood spin machine.
Well I don't know if it's being told per say. Lohan and the tabloids chicks definintely because you constantly see them everywhere. Someone like Christian Bale I think is an entirely different league as you really don't see him everywhere and being shoved down our throats.
My thinking with this film concerning him is they saw what he did with Batman and giving him a shot with Terminator, although 1 and 2 are tough acts to follow. Believe it or not, I never even heard of Christian Bale until after Batman and that is when I started watching is prior films.
Bale is a great actor. Just watch the Machinist (on of my fave movies) and Harsh Times. He was also great in American Psycho and nailed the character perfectly- but the film was rubbish compared to the book despite him unfortunately.
As for the Terminator - well I doubt even he can help such a knackered franchise. As they say 'You cant polish a turd'.
Re: Christian Bale to star in Terminator 4
i like bale as an actor...i didnt really appreciate him though until i read the american psycho book, then re watched the movie...he does an excellent job of bringing that character to life
still i didnt care for t3 or batman returns sp i dont know about this flick....i just hate action flicks these days, a good actor cant do anything about ashitty supporting cast, a bad script and no viable plot lines which seems to be a common trend in the genre these days

Totally agreed, if the odds are that stacked against one actor there is only so much that person can do.
I'd rather see Bale in a movie all his own vs this movie because in general the Terminator series is dead. It's is and always has been Camerons baby and he does it right.

I didnt like it at first, well it was ok, but then someone lent me the book and i had a new respect for the movie...it is light years better after you read the book
I loved American Psycho, I thought Bale did an excellent job. I have to say my favorite part of that movie is when he puts on Huey Lewis and the News and does that little dance walk right before he kills the guy with the ax. but all in all, I thought his role in that was superb and for someone like me who didn't read the book, the ending was a mindfuck. I don't want to give anything away.

Now if a book can do that, that's a good book
