With midseason now in full swing, I thought I'd round up some of my favorite shows that I'm keeping tabs on at the moment. This is Part 1.

How I Met Your Mother (CBS)
One of the last sitcoms standing, How I Met Your Mother continues widening its fanbase thanks to stellar writing and an ensemble that includes the madcap genius of Neil Patrick Harris as loathsome lothario Barney Stinson.

Heroes (NBS)
While the fantasy/sci-fi epic has admittedly seen better days, things got kicked up a notch upon entering the third season's second half. Fortunately, with the return of writer Bryan Fuller, the creative upswing looks set to continue.

Nip/Tuck (FX)
Now in the midst of its fifth season's long delayed (thanks writers' strike) second half, TV's most superficial drama has thankfully regained much of its edge and remains my favorite serialized, stylized melodrama.

Burn Notice (USA)
Originally approached by this viewer as "The New Bruce Campbell TV Vehicle I Must Religiously Watch," Burn Notice quickly became an entity unto itself, with Campbell relegated to a supporting (scene stealing) role. This spy series is also USA's best series. Ever.

Degrassi: The Next Generation (The N)
Yeah, I went there.

Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles (FOX)
A vast storytelling improvement over T3, SCC should please fans of the franchise and features the best John Connor since Eddie Furlong (until Christian Bale, who I am done with professionally).

Dollhouse (FOX)
Because its Joss Whedon, creator of Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Firefly. Because Eliza Dushku's always been hot and people are just now realizing it. Because it was given a death sentence and put on FOX's Friday night sci-fi suicide slot (R.I.P. The Adventures of Brisco County Jr., M.A.N.T.I.S., Brimstone, Dark Angel, The Lone Gunmen, the oft-mentioned Firefly, and all the others who have fallen).

i got hooked on this show called The Legend of the Seeker....its based on a series of novels by a writer named Terry Goodkind, and is in the fantasy genre....its in the same vein as Xena or Hercules but even though i wasnt a fan of those two series, for some reason i'm really digging this Seeker show. its about 12 episodes in of 22 (i believe)

I watch "Heroes", but only out of habbit... after the first series it really went down hill... Over here "Volume 4" doesn't start for a few weeks, but I caught the current episodes online, and it really isn't getting any better.

...One of the biggest problems is that there is no sense of threat... we know now that unless it is announced months in advance that none of the main characters are gonna get killed off, and every major villain has to have the power of omnipotent meaning almost all the powers... i.e Peter, Arthur, and Sylar.

...And the acting and script is just so bad.

Interesting topic, we watch a few of the same shows. Here goes...

The Big Bang Theory (CBS)
A very funny series, following a pack of science nerds and their hot neighbor next door. The series in it's 2nd Season has fluttered a bit to find what stories to tell each week, but it's still a very funny, quirky show.

How I Met Your Mother (CBS)
Not as great as it once was, this watered-down Friends is carried solely on the comic genius that is Neil Patrick Harris. For a gay man, he plays a terrific womanizing horn-dog, lol. Wait for it...

Two and a Half Men (CBS)
Still going strong. Although in this most recent season it's kind of peaked, the show is still solid, surrounded with a terrific cast, with amazing chemistry.

Rules of Engagement (CBS) [returns March 2nd]
Kind of a show I watch, simply because it's on with alot I do watch. But this show has it's moments. David Spade, naturally, is really the only funny one.

24 (Fox)
Although this show has seen it's better days, this 7th Season 'reinvention' has proved alot more entertaining than the lackluster 6th Season in 2007. Jack is back, and more importantly so is Tony. This season has certaintly been an intriguing watch, as the series is obviously slowing down for it's final season next year.

South Park (Comedy Central)
Although last year's 12th Season was among some of the weakest in series history, and this show has seen it's better days, the series is still among some of the best on TV, and is STILL the best animated show on TV.

The Beast (A&E)
Although a bit formulaic, this Patrick Swayze-starred FBI crime drama has been a great watch. Definitely a guilty pleasure. One of my favorite new shows.

Burn Notice (USA)
I originally checked this series out, like Von, because of Bruce Campbell, and also Miami as the locale. With hopes of a Bruce Campbell-starred Miami Vice, I quickly discovered Burn Notice to be it's own show completely, and one of the smartest-written, funny, and underrated shows on TV. The cast is terrific and has great chemistry, and this is definitely one of my most favorite shows on TV.

Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles (Fox)
This great, underrated series finally returned to finish it's 2nd Season on Friday, yay! I have to just say this, because everyone raves about Cameron... Lena Headey is a fuckin' BABE! The series continues to impress, and sadly I hate to say... I don't see a 3rd Season in the cards. But it will be another true loss to the Fox network.

The Simpsons (Fox)
Naturally, not the series it once was, by far, but still a funny watch on Sundays.

King of the Hill (Fox)
Still an underrated show, this will be it's final season - for good. It looks like right now it's tying up loose ends, and getting a bit more serious, which is cool.

Family Guy (Fox)
Yes I still love to hate this show. I still watch it, I don't know why.

American Dad (Fox)
A far better series than Family Guy, I enjoy this show. I wish it got more respect.

The Unit (CBS)
Oh man, what do I say about this AMAZINGLY UNDERRATED series. Easily the best show on CBS, by a fuckin' mile, and gets no love. The cast is amazing, Dennis Haysbert is a real Harrison Ford-type lead, and this series continues to impress. Sadly, it barely survives cancellation each year, and this one will be like every other. 50/50 chance it returns for a 5th Season in the fall.

All the TV i usually watch is over. Always Sunny and Sons of Anarchy on FX. Entourage and True Blood on HBO and Dexter on Showtime. I don't really watch any other shows every week they are on but those. I try and catch the Office when it is on and I have been watched to check out 30 Rock.

I've been meaning to catch The Beast. Sons of Anarchy is one of the best shows on TV, but I didn't include it here because it's currently in-between seasons. As for premium stuff, I watch Californication and The Tudors. I'm planning to do some more write ups. I'm still waiting for the return of Rescue Me and a couple others. Stay tuned.

I also agree that Terminator probably won't be seeing a third season, even though it continually improves and shows its strengths as a sci-fi action show. It would be vital to the marketing of Terminator Salvation to have a current show on the air.

Good point out. Love Sons of Anarchy. Great show to kind of break us Shield-addicts on to something else back during the fall, with the Shield wrapping.

Rescue Me is another favorite that I think comes back in April. Sons, i'm guessing the fall... has FX even renewed it yet for a 2nd Season?

Okay, a couple things...

Last I heard on Terminator: TSCC is that it's like 75/25. 75% - cancelled / 25% - renewed. Ratings have been among Fox's weaker numbers, and even though shows with lower ratings such as 'Til Death have been renewed, Fox believes that comedies have better chance at rebound, and they are also dirt cheap to make, in comparison to a high-budget action show such as Terminator. Prison Break, which used to air after Terminator on Monday nights, has already been cancelled (the remaining episodes air in April), and Terminator has been shifted from Mondays to Fridays, a well-known death slot/wasteland for television. Low ratings + move to Friday = already in the grave. Whether the dirt is thrown in... we'll see. I hope not. It's one of the best shows on TV, but right now it's lookin' real bleak that Terminator will get renewed.

As with John's girlfriend, back during the Fall finale, she slit her wrists in an attempt to commit suicide, because Derek's girlfriend shunned her and threw her out, which devestated the girl. She couldn't stand what she was doing to John, and feeling left alone by the woman, she tried to kill herself. John & Cameron found her, saved her, and now she's ran back to Derek's girlfriend looking for safe refuge.

I'm still not quite sure what's going on there. They almost seem like former lovers.
