I've done will call for more then a few events but I'm notoriously early for everything so the lines don't usually get in my way.
The more I think about this, the more upset I get. I think some time tomorrow I'm gonna start searching around the internet and see if there's some movement out there I can join or in some way help.
Well, that might work, but sadly i've got Axl syndrome when it comes to punctuality.

I only go to shows that are GA and I can get the tickets at the box office. Buckethead is always like that. $20, no surprises. Best deal around. I refuse to do things the way Ticketmaster wants me too.
Of course, that rules GNR out for me, if they ever tour.

I hear ya guys. It's fucking retarded. I noticed this quite a while ago. I watched a show on like Dateline or 20/20 or something about it and it's a total fucking scam. They have professionals who are able to use a software that enables them to make up to 100 000 tickets request in a single day for various shows and events. That's absolutely unheard of for the average ticket buyer. These professionals buy the tickets and then sell the on Ticketmaster's Ticketsnow. It's horseshit. Too bad more artists didn't suport Pearl Jam in the mid 90's when they tried going head to head with Ticketbastard
saw the same thing bono...it is a scam....not only that but they charge a convenience charge up front then if you buy "scalper" tickets they still charge the conveninece charge....in effect they are double dipping
the convenience charges are what piss me off most...ie just bought black label society tickets...tickets are $45 tickets after cpnvenience charges.....$54 and change

I hear ya Neemo.. I bought my BLS tickets right from the venue for 25 bucks each. 45 min drive but well worth it. When I go to Yankee games half the time I get from scalpers. The trick is to go right before the game starts and get the scalpers fighting each other. Go to one guy and try to haggle him and then leave for another guy then play the he's selling them for cheaper than you angle and it works 90 percent of the time. Just got to hustle the hustler a little bit and they cave in cause they need that money.

That's where the money is these days in music - touring and merchandise. I'm not surprised with all the moves that are happening now. Like when Ticketmaster and Iriving Azoff's Frontline Management company merged late last year.
I think all these things spell bad news for the end users (fans). Prices are simply going to be jacked up for concerts, they will sell the best seats as package deal to corporates etc etc. All this to try and recoup money that is no longer made from album sales.
If Ticketmaster and Live Nation merge surely that is bad for competition. If you essentially end up with them having a monopoly prepare to bend over and grab your ankles going forward.
