I agree 1000000000000000%. No filler at all on that, and they even added a few obscure gems.
I don't think i have their GH album. Then again i don't think i really need it because with Soundgarden, i am 100% content with listening to each of their albums seperatly. These guys are increadible musicians who put out some amazing albums. I can't think of any Soundgarden song that i dislike, even their older Ultramega OK stuff is good.
Re: Soundgarden
Ultramega OK is a major shit stain on their discography
I retract this statement. I listened to this album a couple times last night, and its pretty solid. Is it as good as the albums after it? Hell no. It was a good starting point though(I'm excluding the Sub Pop EPs).
Highlights:
Flower
Smokestack Lightning
Beyond the Wheel
Nazi Driver
Incessant Mace
665 and 667 sound like outtakes from the Beatles White Album. Nice touch(although meaningless) covering Lennon's One Minute of Silence.
Its a good album, but its easily overlooked even by hardcore fans because it doesn't really stack up to the rest of the discography.
Re: Soundgarden
i'm a huge soundgarden fan as well... badmotorfinger and superunknown are 2 of my all time favorites....
i never really explored their shit before that... except for what was on a sides..
and to their credit... DOTUS was the only place for 'em to go after superunknown... but a fantastic album... switch opens and zero chance are stunning...
matt cameron doesn't get as much credit as he probably should ...the thing to me that separates superunknown from the pack is the drums...absolutely flawless...
cornell really thrives in a band situation as opposed to solo...
his solo stuff is mediocre at best, while he's generally considered the "genius " in soundgarden... and his work on the first 2 audioslave records is amazing..
he even snuck a would-be soundgarden song on "out of exile" (heavens dead).....

Re: Soundgarden
Tyler I would agree that the drumming is a major part of Soundgarden's better music - it pulls and pushes as oppose to simply driving. AIC sometimes got a similar thing to happen but only on the acoustic stuff, Jar of Flies particularly. Of course Dave Grohl is great, but he's a great strictly driving rock drummer. Cameron adds another dimension instead of another layer to Soundgarden's music.
But I would disagree about Cornell solo, Euphoria Morning alone proves he can do great things with simply good people behind him. Audioslave I don't love as much but it certainly rocks.
Re: Soundgarden
I don't even have that Cornell album anymore. His album in 07 sucked big time. CC can hook you up with that.
As far as Soundgarden goes, I'm gonna send you their entire discography pre-Badmotorfinger...
Screaming Life/FOPP ( the Sub Pop EPs)
Ultramega OK
Louder than Love
Probably take an hour or so to upload them all. Ben Shepard was not in the band on these albums, and you'll notice his absence immediately.
