Re: Pepsi altering course for dumbed down public

PepsiCo today said it will pour some $1.2 billion over three years into a push that will include sweeping changes to its brands, including what Chairman-CEO Indra Nooyi characterized as a revamp of "every aspect of the brand proposition for our key [carbonated soft drink] brands. How they look, how they're packaged, how they will be merchandised on the shelves, and how they connect with consumers."

"Tropicana will also be differentiated, enabling us to re-engage consumers with this iconic brand."

"We're initiating similar upgrades for the entire Gatorade line, which will have an entirely new contemporary identity, and there will be exciting innovations for both G2 and Tiger and a renewed Propel platform."

The white band in the middle of the logo will now loosely form a series of smiles. A "smile" will characterize brand Pepsi, while a "grin" is used for Diet Pepsi and a "laugh" is used for Pepsi Max. Also, Mountain Dew will be rebranded as Mtn Dew. The news was first reported in Beverage Digest.

The brand's blue and red globe trademark will become a series of "smiles," with the central white band arcing at different angles depending on the product. Pepsi, Diet Pepsi and Pepsi Max will use all lower-case fonts for name brands. Gatorade will also receive a redesign, focusing the brand on the letter G.

Changes will include a graphical redesign of core Pepsi CSDs Pepsi, Mountain Dew and Sierra Mist and a rebranding of some products. Mountain Dew will be renamed as "Mtn Dew" on packages, and Diet Pepsi Max will be known as simply Pepsi Max.

I would like to thank the texting generation for dumbing us down into oblivion.

When this goes into effect, I will no longer buy any Pepsi products. I am not contributing to the constant decline of intelligence in this country. If people are unable to comprehend the words Mountain Dew or Gatorade, they should not be catered to. They should be sent back to school instead.

Amazing that people are to the point where they need visual cues and abbreviated words to be able to purchase a product.

In a mass state of confusion trying to buy a Gatorade? How about G8rayd instead? Still too tough? Don't fret, because Pepsi is gonna slap a giant letter 'G' on the product so you'll be able to figure out what you want.

I predict Mtn Dew will be too tough. They'll have to revamp it to Mt Do.

What a sad day for this country.

My cousin writes that way. I'm not sure what they mean when they said Diet Pepsi will have a "grin"?  Exactly which "grin" are they referring to?

They're referring to the coming Pepsi logos. They will be like smileys.

Pepsi- big_smile

Diet Pepsi- lol

Pepsi Max- tongue

Thats how you will differentiate between Pepsi products. If that is unable to convince you of what you are buying, it will be written in text format and/or lower case font depending on the product.

It really makes me sick.

Yeah, I knew they'd be smileys. But I guess I meant which specific smiley would be for Diet Pepsi.. Doesn't a lol make it seem like it's laughing at you.

Oh wait, I think I see what they'd be, I think it's:

pepsi smile

diet pepsi big_smile

pepsi max lol

i think.. 5

They're already doing it.  Anyone catch the new Pepsi commercial on tv?  The logo was altered from the traditional logo.

They're insulting my intelligence. I know how to say Mountain Dew, and I know how to spell it. I also know where its located in the store, and know it when I see it. I don't need the products I purchase to be dumbed down in order for me to buy them.

There's no such word as mtn. Scratch that. There is now. I shudder at the thought of a dictionary in 10-20 years, and I truly feel sorry for the youth of today. They don't even have a chance. We're already way behind other countries in education, and we're flying head first into the abyss.

They're already doing it.

Then my boycott officially begins.

I agree James this is stupid. I text but I know that there's a difference between the "wrds" I use to text and the words I use everyday in classes and in the real world.

Doesn't bother me much besides that anyway. All i drink is Doctor(Dr.) Pepper. Never liked any Pepsi product much besides Mountain Dew which tastes like Vault to me.
