Re: Better Than Ezra
Was anybody else into them back in the mid 90s? I recently started listening to them again and I'm still to this day amazed with a great songwriter Kevin Griffin is.
Re: Better Than Ezra
Haha, wow never thought I'd see a thread about these guys. Good band I guess, they hit it big in 95 when music was still great. I recall they were mostly a one hit wonder with 'Good' (when that first came out I thought it was indie band Pavement who had a similar sounding hit with Cut Your Hair) which is a song I actually always liked. However years later they had another good song, better than Good, can't recall the name, Desperately Wanting (something about running thru the wet grass). I rank them in with other easy-alternative bands like Gin Blossums & myb the Lemonheads, that's not a knock, just who I'd equate them to.

Re: Better Than Ezra
They are actually a very good band. They had another single off of 'Deluxe' (the album with 'Good' on it) called 'This Time Of Year', and as you said, 'Desperately Wanting' a few years later. If you dig into some of the non-radio stuff tho, there are some gems. One of my favorites is the song 'Porcelain'.
Re: Better Than Ezra
Nada Surf I didn't like. They sung the annoying song "I'm the quarterback... I'm popular. My Mom says I'm a catch.. I'm popular" Althoguh, years later (2000 or so) I happened to hear a song somewhere from the that I liked. So myb some bands aren't represented well by their hit. Marcy Playground was another one hit wonder I didn't like.
As for Better Than Ezra, they sung the song
Sitting around the House
Watching the sun play shadows on the floor
Pieces of note fall down
but the letter said
Wah Ohhhhhhh
It was gooooood a'living with you
Wah Ohhhhhhh
It was good
(Granted, I could just post a youtube clip of it, but thought this would ring a bell)

Re: Better Than Ezra
James, I think you would remember Better Than Ezra if you heard a few of their big hits. They had some massive songs, VERY catchy post-grunge stuff. "Desperately Wanting" is awesome.
