Re: New Years Resolutions for 2009
First of all, happy new year everyone!
Not sure of time differences whether it's actually 2009 yet in the rest of the world, but it is here in Australia.
Anyway, does anyone have any resolutions they'd like to share?
I'm usually not really one for these sort of things, but 2009 will be the year I get my first tattoo. I just don't know what it will be yet, which is probably the reason I haven't got one yet! hehe
But, I do intend to get off my ass and design something cool (like I've been saying to my friends for a while) and get it inked on me!
I also plan on getting myself in a better situation financially, as well as keeping up my fitness. I've been at the gym pretty constantly since June which is the longest time I've ever committed to keeping in shape.

I don't make any resolutions because they are all bullshit.People never stick to anything they say on new years.

That's not necessarily true, I've made resolutions in previous years and stuck to them.

I dont belivee that dude. Only weak people cant stick to a true resolution. I've made them before and have stuck to them. Most people make stupid fucking resolutions with no intention of following through. This year I totally plan to cut down on the fast food. My goal is twice a month and I can guarantee that I will do it. Might not seem like a big deal but for a guy who eats that shit at least once a week it's a huge deal for me and I GUARENTEE I will meet my goal. Why? Cause I wrote it down and have said it to myself. It's important to me so I'll make it happen. Resolutions are only stupid unless you have no intention of following though. sadly tha's 99% of the people who make them.

It goes both ways, a lot of people just make them to make them. Hell, go do a gym in the next week or so, then go again in march and see how different it is. Llike you said, 99% don't follow through.
I've always thought if you feel there's a change you need to make why are you doing it specifically at the beginning of the year? I look at it sort of like valentine's day. To me it means more to do something for someone just because of how you feel instead of because you think you should because of the day. A resolution is sort of the same thing, except for yourself rather than for someone you care about.
That said, Good luck to anyone who made them.

Re: New Years Resolutions for 2009
I always stick to mine as much as possible, but I choose things it was time to do anyway in my life and not just because of the day.
My 2008 resolutions were:
1. Only eat Junk Food on xmas day, my birthday and easter day. (This is because I have an addiction to junk food. I've got myself slim again this way but my brain can't understand moderation, if I allow myself more than this I end up morbidly obese in half a month). People told me it couldn't be done and I did it.
2. Play some live shows with my band. (Sadly this resolution got missed as we had to fire a member of the band. He was replaced but not in time to gig)
3. Excerise (I walked 5km per day 6 days a week)
4. Get a girlfriend. (I'd been single for 5 years at the start of 2008 and was over it. Did this. She dumped me about 2 weeks ago after 6 months and with no warning but it was nice to know relationships are possible in my world)
5. Record some songs with my band (we put down a 2 track demo)
6. Figure out what to do with my life. (Back in 2004 my father died, and I'd lost a sence of what the hell to do with my life and had spent 4 years just working trash jobs with no plan. Decided what I want to do...which is try and actually work in an area i'm interested in, sat some tests, and have now been accepted in 2009 back to college to do courses designed to get me work in the business side of the music industry. Orginising tours, promotions, atrist managment, legal stuff etc.)
So overall I was pleased with 2008's resolutions.
My Plan for 2009 is:
1 Continue eating as per last year.
2.Continue walking 5km at least 6 days a week
3. Practise my guitar each and every day. Real practise not just fun playing.
4. Play a live show or shows with my band.
5. Date more / get into a healthy relationshp. (whichever comes first )
6. Challange myself to be the kickass person I can be and not the scared little girl the people around me want to make me into. IE: Don't let fear dictate my actions.
