The man charged with the murder of schoolgirl Vicky Hamilton will not appear in court for the second time.
Peter Tobin, 61, is understood to still be receiving treatment for injuries sustained in an assault at Saughton Prison in Edinburgh.
A 21-year-old inmate has been charged over the incident.
Mr Tobin had been due to appear at Linlithgow Sheriff Court on Friday for a full committal hearing, which will now take place in his absence.
He missed the original scheduled hearing on Thursday following the assault on Wednesday evening.
Private committal hearing
Mr Tobin was attacked in the prison's protection wing, where vulnerable prisoners are housed.
The eight-day deadline for Mr Tobin to attend the hearing expires on Friday.
The Crown Office confirmed that he would not be appearing and that the hearing would go ahead without his attendance.
Mr Tobin once lived at the three-bedroom council house in Irvine Drive, Margate, where the bodies of Vicky and Dinah McNicol, 18, from Essex, were found last week.
Vicky was last seen at a bus stop in Bathgate's George Square, just after 1735 GMT on 10 February, 1991.
