LOL, that parody is pretty good. They actually did a pretty decent job with the Joker's hair and makeup.

Another favorite aspects of Ledger's Joker is the sort of bi-polar mood swings he gave the character. He has this calm, well though out air about him, but he'll briefly get really pissed... then go back to calm. A perfect example: When Gotham news is airing his video of the fake Batman encounter and he just freaks out with that "LOOK.. AT.. ME", then goes right back to calm. His yell is fucking scary!

Also, the James Hetfield "ahh" he puts on the end of certain s's. ie. "Chaos-ahh", and "Serious-ahh".

I disagree with that assertion. Ledger has said he wasn't trying to copy Nicholson. Nicholson's Joker isn't the only nutjob performance in history, you know. Ledger was far more influenced by Alex from A Clockwork Orange (which came out 18 years before Batman '89) than anything else. He was also influenced by the Sex Pistols. I would argue that Jack's performance in The Shining was more influential on Ledger than Jack's work in Batman.

Yeah i dunno...i didn't mean he ripped off Nicholson....I feel that heath's joker was like an almagation of about 5 of 6 different film pshycos....all i ment was the delivery of the lines in places...to me it feels like part of the mix...is Jack...either in Batman or The Shining...or somewhere....

The way he said "Everything burns" made me think of Jack a bit. He's in there, but like has been said, it's a complex composite.

this is where i'm coming from too...i never meant that he ripped of nicholson...but he used some of Nicholson's performance as inspiration for his take on the character

Nicholson's Joker is fairly lame imo (I thought this before TDK, before Begins even, I've always felt that way). Ledger's is phenomenal - anytime you're playing the same character there's going to be similarities but where Nicholson's Joker felt like Nicholson, with Heath's you couldn't see the actor behind it. Much more effective. My biggest problem with the Burton Batmans is their lack of respect to the comics - the Nolan films and Ledger's Joker feel more 'right' to me. Of course the Joker has been very different in different ages of the comics, or the TV show, or cartoons.

But see that's what I love about Burton's. They tried to be respectful to the attitude of the comics, but they created their own world, which I loved. Something that was a totally fresh take on Batman.

I still know people that will get downright infuriated, because Jack Napier (The Joker) killed Bruce's parents in Batman '89.

And as for Nicholson, he does seem to be playing Nicholson with the volume turned up, but it's still a classic performance, and the highlight of that film.

That's just wrong, lol. The funny thing of it all, is I would believe that it was directed by Schumacher.

As for TDK, saw a bit last night, and had an issue with the ending. I reversed the actual Commish Gordon dialogue in the movie. I thought he said "Batman is the hero Gotham needs, not the one it deserves", and instead it's reverse of that.

Personally, I kind of think the one cooked up in my head is better.

From all the Batman films, all the way back to '89... Gotham is a pretty scum-riddled city with no redeemable qualities. I've always been convinced that Batman does what he does, over the extreme grief over the violent death of his parents.

He does it for himself. Not for the city, imo. In a strange way, he's no different than the criminals he's capturing.

So for that, I think "he's the hero they need, but not the one they deserve" suits much better.
