Re: The BATMAN Thread
-Tell your men they work for me now. This city is mine.
-They won't worrk for a frreakk.
-"Frreeakk". How about we cut you up in little pieces and feed you to your poochies, hmm? Then we'll see..how loyal..a hungry dog really is.
I can't get over this character. Seen the movie 5 times in 3 days.
I consider it one of the best and most interesting performances of all time. This is Raging Bull material. The Godfather.
I'm like Jimmy Conway, I always root for the bad guys in the movies. This is one of the rare instances where the villain is treated with respect, and I'm absolutely in love. This film actually made realize why Heat, Godfather, Apocalypse Now, Star Wars and Die Hard are my favorite movies. It's all about the antagonist. The cold rationalist.
I love that they turned him into an anarchistic philosopher. The scene where Batman interrogates him is brilliant because you get to see how his mind ticks.
"Don't talk like one of them, you're not...even if you'd like to be. To them, you're just a freak...like me! They need you right now, but when they don't...they'll cast you out...like a leper! You see, their morals...their code...it's a bad joke, dropped at the first sign of trouble. They're only as good as the world allows them to be. I'll show ya. When the chips are down, these civilized people? They'll EAT each other. See, I'm not a monster, I'm just ahead of the curve!"

i got the impression from alot of people that it was truely haunting character, and downright frightening but maybe it was built up too large for me, but it didnt quite get there for me, i felt the story kinda dragged in the middle again but not as bad as begins...anyway like i said i've only seen each once so now that i've seen them both i will sit down and watch them back to back and see what i think of them then
You might want to actually watch Nicholson's again if you really believe he was a huge influence on how Ledger played the character. Jack Nicholson didn't invent the Joker, but people seem to think he did. There's many stories over the years that played a far bigger role in influencing Ledger's version. It's in the comics, not in what other actors have done. If there's similarities, it's because the comics also influenced the other actors. Ledger completely immersed himself in the role. Nicholson didn't. Unless you think that was Heath Ledger's normal voice. I know for damn sure it wasn't and I also know for damn sure that it was Jack Nicholson's normal voice.
I agree. There is no way that Heath was influenced by Nicholson's Joker.
Neemo, you weren't on acid when you were watching this were you?
Re: The BATMAN Thread
Eddie Murphy is to play super-villain The Ridder in the next Batman movie, it has been claimed.
The 47-year-old comic actor is reportedly taking on the villainous role for the latest installment in director Christopher Nolan's interpretation of the comic books, due to be released in 2010.
A film insider said: "Eddie's a fantastic addition. Everyone's excited to see what he does as The Riddler."
The actor's expected involvement in the project is the first clear indication of Christopher's intention to shoot a third Batman movie.
The source continued to Britain's The Sun newspaper: "Chris wasn't sure if he wanted to do another movie but as soon as he decided to, he got the wheels in motion."
Eddie isn't the first actor to be linked to the latest incarnation of The Riddler - a manic super-villain who baffles Batman with his cryptic criminal clues and first appeared in the comics in 1948.
Earlier this year, Johnny Depp was hotly-tipped to have landed the role, previously played by Jim Carrey in 1995 film Batman Forever.
AdvertisementIt has also been claimed British actress Rachel Weisz is in the running for the seductive role of Catwoman.
Resuming their fight against crime in Gotham City are Christian Bale, who portrays Batman, and Sir Michael Caine who plays butler Alfred.

I knew i would get flack from saying it...just a coupld mannerisms that ledger used in the role, some of the vocal inflections, i'm no where saying that jack invented the joker. hell i watched the adam west batman every saturday when i was a kid..i've watched the cartoons over the years and i've read some of the comics...i know the story, i still think that ledger drew inspiration from jack

The Sun tabloid in Britain is the one that started the Eddie Murphy rumor. It is utter bullshit.

Thanks, If I'd had known it came from the Sun I never would have even posted it. I only did because the "AP" was at the end of it where I saw it. I had no idea the Associated Press picked up on shit like that.

I doubt the AP did. Did your source provide a link when they posted it? If not, they slapped the AP on there to make it look legit. Chris Nolan did a live chat screening on the Blu-ray earlier tonight with 100,000 people (including myself) and he talked a bit about coming back for a third movie. He said that it will be a huge challenge trying to continue living up to the quality of the first two movies and that he's not sure if he wants to do it but that he wants to explore the story possibilities first. He said he is currently talking with David Goyer on a fairly regular basis about a potential story for a third movie, but that if they can't come up with something great, he won't bother with the project. So I would think casting isn't even close to going on right now, regardless of the rumors. They are still in the process of trying to come up with a story, never mind the actors.
Re: The BATMAN Thread
Oh thank God that's bullshit. Eddie Murphy as the Riddler!
If they decide to go with Catwoman in the third (which it seems like it could work with the way TDK ended), they need to be careful and make sure they're doing it right.
I think it would be best to leave any more romantic atatchments out of B3 seeing how TDK ended.
