I know we talked on here before about why certain teams are ahead of other teams. I just now found the tiebreaker rules on msnbc's website.

Tiebreaker rules
To break a tie within a division — two clubs:
1. Head-to-head (best won-lost-tied precentage in games between the clubs).
2. Best won-lost-tied percentage in games played within the division.
3. Best won-lost-tied percentage in common games, if applicable.
4. Best won-lost-tied percentage in games played within the conference.
5. Best net points in division games.
6. Best net points in all games.
7. Strength of schedule.
8. Best net touchdowns in all games.
9. Coin toss.

(Note: If two clubs remain tied after third or other clubs are eliminated during any step, tie-breaker reverts to step 1 of the two-club format)

1. If the tied clubs are from the same division, apply division tie-breaker.
2. If the tied clubs are from different divisions, apply the following steps.

Two clubs
1. Head-to-head, if applicable.
2. Best won-lost-tied percentage in games played within the conference.
3. Best won-lost-tied percentage in common games, minimum of four.
4. Best average net points in conference games.
5. Best net points in all games.
6. Strength of schedule.
7. Bet net touchdowns in all games.
8. Coin toss.

Three or more clubs
(Note: If two clubs remain tied after third or other clubs are eliminated, tie-breaker reverts to step 1 of applicable two-club format.)
1. Apply division tie-breaker to eliminate all but the highest ranked club in each division prior to proceeding to step 2 The originial seeding within a division tie-breaker remains the same for all subsequent applications of the procedure that are necessary to identify three wild-card teams.
2. Head-to-head sweep (Applicable only if one club has defeated each of the others or if one club has lost to each of the others).
3. Best won-lost-tied percentage in games played within the conference.
4. Best won-lost-tied percentage in common games, minimum of four.
5. Best average net points in conference games.
6. Best net points in all games.
7. Strength of schedule.
8. Bet net touchdowns in all games.
9. Coin toss.

Can you imagine things coming down to a coin toss?

As far as the season goes, Bears are still hanging in. If they cant win the division, gonna be difficult because there are quite a few teams fighting for those wild card slots. Tampa or Carolina is pretty much guaranteed one of those slots.

Its a crap shoot. The most dangerous team at this point in the NFC is Arizona. They can either suffer a horrific loss or score 50 points in a game. I feel sorry for any team that has to face them in the playoffs.

As long as Arizona has to play on the road, they'll probably lose, especially in January. If they have to come to Giants Stadium, in January, they wont win.

Giants better start getting their Offense together. 0-2 since losing Plaxico isn't looking to good. Granted, they could afford to lose a few & still win the division, but still, you wanna go into the playoffs hot.

I think the Giants will be fine. I think it has more to do with the offensive line getting beat the last two weeks than it did with having Plaxico gone. Last night, for instance, we could have had Plax out there, but Eli wouldnt have had time to get to him. Our offensive line got manhandled.

Some of you will never know the pain and agony sports can bring. I've been following the Bills for about 9 years, with crying my eyes out after the Music City Tragedy in 99 being the earliest thing I can remember about watching the Bills.

That year the Bills were 11-5, then they were 8-8, then it was Gregg Williams, who went 3-13, 8-8 (beating NE 31-0 in the 1st game of the year and losing to them 0-31 in the last game of the year), and 3-13. Then came Mike Mularkey, who had a 9-7 1st year (losing the last game of the year at home to a Pittsburgh team resting all their starters, insluding a missed field goal in the last 5 minutes, to miss the playoffs), then a 5-11 year, and then two straight 7-9 years with Dick Jauron.

So, even though I was only 7 or 8 that good year, I will include it. Nearly a decade of Bills football has brought me a 64-80 record (6-8 this year not included) , 4 head coaches, 4 general managers, 5 starting quaterbacks, and 1 playoff game.

This year maybe is the worst. A 4-0 start, followed by this current 2-8 (also 1-7) stretch. How many teams have started with 4 straight wins and missed the playoffs? How many teams have gone winless in their own division? 0-5 in the AFC East is perhaps the most humiliating thing I've ever experienced as a Bills fan, and to lose a game that had been won like the Jets last week is so painful.

It's heartbreaking to admit, but I've given up wishing for a good team and begun wishing that I didn't care. Sometimes I think the Bills lose on purpose because they hate me.

I even like Jauron and like Edwards, but this season has been, like the others, pathetic. This year were 23rd in yards per game, in 07 Bills were 30th, in 06 they were 30th, in 05 they were 28th, in 04 they were 25th, in 03 they were 30th, and in 02 they were 11th. So there, 6 straight years of shitty offense, 3 of which were spent in the bottom 3 of the league.

And yeah, sometimes teams win purely on defense. So let's check the Bills defense out. This year, they're 13, respectable, in 07 they were 31st, in 06 they were 18th, in 05 they were 29th, in 04 they were 2nd. So some good years, but only 1 of the past 5 were spent in the better half of the league.

I hate football.

^^ You know in the movie 'Invinceable' when his Dad says that one victory got him thru 30 years at the factory?? I believe there's truth to that. Just 1 championship is all I want. The Phillies finally won it all, & it was worth every heartache all these sports teams have given me. It puts life into perspective somehow, if only for a fleeting moment.

You cant really explain the feelings when YOUR team whens a championship. I don't remember the 1986 championship, but I do remember the 1990 Giants team that won the Super Bowl. I cried when they lost games that year, and I was ecstatic when they beat San Fran in the Championship game (prevented SF from a three-peat) and when they beat Buffalo in the SB. This SB last year was the first they won that I was an adult. It does so many things. The offseason goes by quicker, things like the draft are even more interesting cause they mention every so often "Super Bowl Champions..." throughout the broadcast.

But its addictive. I want another!!!

Seriously though, the Bills did let down the second half of the year. This was their chance to take a shot at it & go for a playoff run, with Brady out, the Chargers & Colts being bad, they started off 4-0.. it was theres for the taking. They've gone 2-8?? That's pretty bad. Oh well, always next year. And the draft to look forward to. That's like my New Years.

Birds finally went back to a run-first offense, which is what they're best at.
