DUMB move and I cant believe she is doing it. She has a highly anticipated album coming in the next few months, can easily generate her own publicity, and she decides to kick start the promotion bitching about GaGa, who is pretty much the world's biggest pop star now and untouchable? I am shocked. Its clearly an intentional strategy and its beneath her. Its contradicting as some of the shit she says against GaGa she has done herself. Apparently tons of GaGa fans are now trolling her on Twitter.
The long overdue backlash to M.I.A. may be right around the corner, and she had to time it with a new album on the horizon.
She's made some strange decisions over the years due to bad management, but this takes the fucking cake.
Also, this definitely disproves the rumor that they collaborated last year.

I was surprised too, James. While she may be on the right track in saying Gaga isn't exactly reinventing the wheel, at least she is a true artist. No one quite like her.
On a related note, I despise all this "beefing" that goes on in the industry. It's lame and can really hurt lots of people, including fans. If you are hard-core for MIA but also like Gaga, what do you do?
Just look at the GNR fanbase to see what can happen.

Agreed. All this bickering my have a point, but at the same time the copy-cat stuff has been going on for years and years.
MIA should stick to what she does best and that's making music. No need to be picking fights with GaGa, even though MIA is way better.

I dont agree with u guys. I think a big reason music sucks today is cause no one is real.
everybody does the politically correct thing and the excitement is gone from music.
I love what Kanye West did to Taylor Swift. I love MIA speaking her true feelings.
I'll take a real artist over someone who are so worried about losing a record sale they become a puppet and fake.

It's not about losing a record sale. It's about taking the high road. There's a difference between taking the high road and being fake.
This. And anyone who doesn't think that the Kayne West thing wasn't scripted needs to think about this:
How did they know exactly when to get the 'money shots'?
And both Taylor and Kanye benefited from it. Beyonce as well actually.
That's not an artist being 'real'. 
MTV tries to manufacture excitement to get ratings up.
