Simple really. Let's hear what the worst shows you've ever been to were

5. Guns N' Roses @ Calgary, December 2006 - This show blew ass. The sound was disgraceful and Axl's voice was almost competely inauduible the entire night. The show started way too late and by the time the final notes to Paradise City were played the Saddledome looked half empty cause people obviously couldn't care less. It sucked. the saving grace was you could tell the guys in the band were doing their damndest to put on a  good show. It just wasn't happening that night

4. Mathew Good @ Calgary, November 2009 - This show had great sound as it was played in a auditorium built for live music. The light show was nice but Mathew Good came off as an arrogant prick. he openly mocked people who were there to hear the hits and he flat out refused to play any of them. Said this show was for real fans.  I guess the $215 I paid for the pair of tickets doesn't qualify me enough as a "real fan" I wanted to hear his hits. Anyways his voice became incredibly boring as the show went on and every song morphed into the next one making the show seem like one big boring song.

3. REM @ Calgary, November 2004 - This could very well be the most boring show I have ever seen. From the band right on down to the fans. In fact I have never seen a more lifeless crowd than I did for REM. the light show was pretty standard but bordered on lame. Michael Stipe continuoulsy said "We're REM and this is what we do" and I kept thinking man you suck at what you do. If there was ever a show where the band seemd to be going through the motions and spining their wheels all at once this was it. Lifeless is how I would describe this experience. Absolutely lifeless.

2. Billy Talent w/ Alexisonfire, Against Me! & Cancer Bats @ Red Deer, March 2010 - This show was pathetic. Nevermind the fact the average age of the crowd was probably 13 the fact the members of Billy Talent, Alexisonfire and Cancer Bats didn't recognize this made me sick.  Never have I see a bunch of wankers drop so many F-bombs and Mother fuckers!!! and talk about smoking dope and getting drunk and telling the crowd on the floor we need to see some tits. They're fucking 12 you morons!  The guy from the Cancer Bats was the worst. Thanks all the fans for being with them since back in the day and partying with them at The Vat back in 2006. Ummm....hey dipshit non of these kids are drinking age now, you really think they were hanging with you at The Vat 4 years ago? Moron. I hang out at The Vat and nobody there likes your music.  Alexisonfire is without a doubt the worst band I have ever seen perform. They sucked so bad.  Billy Talent was ok I guess but they got so boring. All their songs sound identical.  The saving grace was Against Me! who fucking kickass but unfortunately their set was only 30 minutes long. They rocked though despite Tom Gabel getting hit right in the face with a  full beer 2 songs in. Did he bitch about it? No way just kept playing. He didn't even mention it.

#1 THE WORST SHOW EVER! NOFX w/ No Use for a Name @ Edmonton, May 2008 - This show was god awful. I went with a few buddies who were big fans of both bands yet they bailed out on it halfway through cause it sucked so bad. I stuck it out cause I paid for the fucking ticket. Worst sound in the history of concerts. It was basically played inside a huge hanger with concrete floor and tin walls and roof. No Use for a Name was obviously pissed off at the choice of venue and made a point of saying so after each song. They ended their set with a "Thanks this sucked!" NOFX was a joke. I almost puked when they'd lead into one song with some stupid fart and dick jokes then lead into the next song with some psuedo political rant only to follow that up with more fart and dick jokes, repeat the cycle. Nothing but a bunch of fucking clowns. This show made me swear off punk shows for life. Unless it's in a  bar where I can sit and have a beer fuck it. I don't need to see this shit. I don't need to hang out with kids with their pants halfway down their ass and their hats all crooked and sideways and I don't need to watch a  band that's gonna make stupid faces and talk about how they like the smell of their own farts.  NOFX are kind of punk "legends" and it was a complete and utter joke. The fans looked and acted like complete morons, the bands acted like douchebags. Overall I felt shame to even be there.

I don't remember the exact date, but I saw Motley Crue a few years ago.  It was "An Evening With Motley Crue", so no opener at all.  Tickets weren't selling worth a damn, so a few days before they chopped them to half off.  Come time for the show to start the place was still only about 1/2 full, which I would assume is why they waited to go on...  for well over an hour.    But no more people were showing up, and I know I'm a GNR fan and all, but I can only sit there drinking $8 beers for so long.  Eventually the show started, and after all that wait, they sounded like shit.

The capper came when something happened while they were playing Wildside.  A buddy of mine says he thinks he saw Mick fall, but I think Tommy went to a breakdown while Mick and Nikki just kept playing.  Either way, the song fell apart They stopped playing and the lights went out.  Then without saying a word about it, they kicked into the next song, and never even mentioned that happening.

Also, Vince Niel isn't known for being a great vocalist, but he was looking for audience participation and says "Help me out with the hard part here"  and held up the mic...  This was during the humming part of Home Sweet Home.

For me when it comes to bad shows, there's this show on one level of pure shit, and nothing else even comes close.

I'd seen Neil Young every tour from 1990 on, but in Summer 2000 I saw him on the Silver and Gold tour (remember the single, "Buffalo Springfield Again"?) and he was terrible.

I don't remember if it was at Great Woods in Boston, or The Meadows in Hartford, but the show sucked.

It was slow and sloppy and put me off Neil for good. I'm not even a fan anymore.

Definitely the worst concert I've seen.

I can't honestly remember ever going to a concert that I didn't enjoy.

HOWEVER, I had planned to go see Van Halen III, with Gary Cherone.  We all went to tailgate at the venue and planned to get tickets there.  But after the tailgating was done and it was time to go to the show we decided against it.  The prospects of seeing Eddie tear it up were enticing, but just wasn't enough.  I think we went to a strip club instead.  And I think we made the right choice because I got to see VH with Dave twice their last tour.

Another show I didn't actually go into deserves mention.  I've always hated The Dave Matthews Band, but for some reason everyone else seems to love them.  So they'd always play multiple shows in Hartford, CT in the summer over a weekend and the tailgating was insane since everyone would go.  People would show up at like noon for a 7 o'clock show.  Drinking in the sun for 7 hours never leads to good things.  To make a long story short, things got out of control one year.  People started lighting cars on fire, overturning cars.  Police had to intervene in riot gear and pepper sprayed the crowd after they were pelted with beer bottles.  I had to run like the wind after getting hit with the spray just to catch my breath again.

So those are my 2 worst concerts, even though I never actually saw 1 second of either show.

I've never gotten the love obsession with Dave Matthews either. Everyone I know thinks he's wonderful, and I just can't stand the music.

The MUSIC is pretty good, but I can't stand his voice, and don't think he's that great of a songwriter.  I've said for a long time I could really get into Dave Matthews Band if Dave Matthews wasn't in it.

Of all the major acts I've seen, these three are the most memorable for all the wrong reasons.

3. The Black Crowes-I've seen TBC several times, but this one night at The Adler Theatre  in Davenport, Iowa on October 14, 2001 was bad. It's not that the band or Chris Robinson were terrible, but rather the venue they booked to play. The show was in a fancy theatre that would be better suited for a play or a movie. Cushioned seats all the way up to the front of the stage & they stopped selling beer before TBC took the stage. The band was obviously pissed over the lack of crowd interaction & the crowd was being put to sleep by being stoned in such cushy seats. There were ushers with flashlights everywhere, etc, etc...

2. fakeGNR-Moline, Illinois 2002-I knew it might be weird going into this one from the MTV performance, the Vancouver riot, and from reading about 1/2 empty arenas before they got to Moline. Axl looked & sounded like some sports bar coke dealer & Robin Finck forever tarnished the GNR name with his playing that night. To top off the fraud, Fortus, not Buckethead, got to play to PC outro because it was his birthday. It was another 1/2 full arena & I've seen more smiles leaving some of the funerals I've attended.

1. The Dead-Somerset, Wisconsin 2003-My wife drug me to this allday shitfest. Bob Dylan opened the 9+hour torture session with a white noise electric set. Seriously, I couldn't understand a thing he was saying or playing. Then, The Dead(The Greatful Dead without Jerry Garcia) noodled for like 6+ hours thru multiple sets. It was terrible, I ran out of weed, beers were like $7 & everyone there just sucked. It was the longest day of my life.

I really wish that tour hadn't imploded before it hit my area. I really wish I could have watched this fiasco in person. Youtube vids do no shows(good or bad) justice.

A few of the boots from that tour are good(Boston, Tokyo) but some are horrific. The title track performed at MSG is just embarrassing. I cringed when hearing that and hopefully never have to hear it again. People there said it was a good show, but fuck those bootlegs say otherwise. 16

I know you hate that line up as do others, but tons of talent assembled and its mind boggling that it got reduced to that.

Said it a million times, but the pinnacle of the post Slash era is that 2001 Rio performance. The band is just on fire and hitting on all cylinders. It's a shame that nothing constructive ever happened with the line up, and Axl is crazy for not making Buckethead go into a studio there immediately after the show and nail that Madagascar solo like he did onstage. The song has never and will never sound as good as it did that night.

I know you don't really give a shit about the CD era other than just following the drama, but one of these days you should watch that show again. There is great quality footage of the show.

Never really had a "worst concert experience", but one thing that will forever piss me off is how low the sound was at the Treasure Island Festival. When you can hear people talking while the artist is kicking ass onstage, it's not a true concert experience.

I was at both of those shows too.  I've heard a few people say exactly what you did about the Crowes show, but I was second row, kinda drunk, and didn't notice any of what was going on behind me.  I dug the hell out of it.
