No way in hell is The Joshua Tree the worst album up there.
well U2 is my least favorite band, so its pretty logical for me.

Ride the Lightning. I like Cornell and I don't like Hagar but I can see the similarity. Both have strong rock pipes with a lot of range without ever sounding screeching like most high-pitched 80s rockers had (Axl included).
the funny thing is.. the reason all those guys sound vaguely similar is they all sing the same way.... axl, hagar, cornell, layne, mark fucking slaughter....
they just have different voices... it's that "vocal pinch harmonic" shit.... if you've ever wondered how axl etc can have a voice as deep as a well, and still pull off those screechy high notes... that's the answer....
i can do it... but 15 years of marlboros destroyed my vocal chords....
please tell me i'm not the only one who knows about this shit....

Cornell and Hagar are seperate from Axl. Layne is somewhere in the middle, I guess, and while his voice is amazing imo it was never as pitch-perfect as the others. I don't really want to get into that discussion because I'm not a vocalist and it's all opinion, but part of the Layne thing was about hearing the pain of it as opposed to Cornell and all the others, who, while still emoting, tried to make it sound easy. As many masters do.
