Re: Definitive UYI
It is agreed by many that Use Your Illusion should have only been one album and that the two albums stretched the quality of the album thin. With that in mind how would you make your own UYI? Mines is posted below in order
Back Off Bitch
Double Talkin' Jive
Don't Cry
Perfect Crime
Garden Of Eden
Bad Apples
November Rain
You Could Be Mine
Civil War
Estranged
Locomotive
Coma
I barely managed to fit that on to one disc and there was some cuts I did not like making such as Pretty Tied Up.
Re: Definitive UYI
Copy & Paste from HTGTH
Maybe arranged slightly different, but something like this;
14 Years
Dust N' Bones
Yesterdays
You Could Be Mine
Don't Cry
Back Off Bitch
The Garden
November Rain
Breakdown
Dead Horse
Coma
Estranged
Re: Definitive UYI
I've did these lists a few times over the years, and while each one may differ from an added track or two, this is the essential in my opinion....
The Garden
Dust N Bones
Double Talkin Jive
November Rain
Coma
Civil War
14 Years
Yesterdays
Pretty Tied Up
So Fine
You Could Be Mine
Estranged
Thats all that was really needed.

People always say that...but we can never agree on what to cut.
Some of my favourites are the songs people always want to get rid of!

^^^ "downliner" for example, believes "My World" should make the cut instead of "Estranged".

I'm not sure about in place of Estranged...but I'm actually a huge fan of My World!
Until i came to boards I thought i was the only person alive. The lyrics are so poetic....like it's "out there" but it's amazing lyrically to me. It really captures the type of disjoined thoughts that can run around inside my mind.
There's also some fun stuff...like I love when the sound of the cig lighter triggers that bass part or whatever...golden.
People often bag the shit out the song and while i'll agree its unsual for GNR of that period (which was a guitar heavy sound) - it's in a way the perfect end to those albums given they're already masterpieces of genre spanning and diversity. As a song it's kind of a glimpse into how different Axl is to us, yet also how similar, much like GNR as a whole, sometimes he comes off somewhat crazy, but you're left with a sence of total genius too. It leaves me unsure what I think except I want to hear the song again. That's what "my world" does for me anyway!
