Re: Best album of the 90s elimination- Round 17
Was eliminated in the last round.
We're now at the final four. This definitely wasn't what I expected when this elimination first started. Its a crime that Soundgarden is not in it at this point.
I'm gonna have to vote for UYI II. I know Pearl Jam is gonna go this round, but those first six songs on Ten are amazing. UYI II has some killer songs, but it drowns itself in cheese and Ten was a breakthrough album during one of the most monumental moments in music history.
Go listen to UYI II, then go listen to Alive or Evenflow. One band gets it, the other doesn't. A change was coming, and whining about Bob Guccione at that point was irrelevant.

I'm going to waist a vote for "Metallica".
Re: Best album of the 90s elimination- Round 17
THis poll had a great top 10 & I was satisfied. However, I thought at least 1 UYI would have gone before the Final 4. Little disappointed in the hate for grunge landmark & breakthru albums the last several rounds.
As James said, Ten is one, Black album is one, Superunknown is one. AFD is one. The UYI were not.
Re: Best album of the 90s elimination- Round 17
UYI II and if The Black Album is elimianted now that is a crime. It is the best album left as there is no filler. And what could be considered filler on it are still solid tracks. The rest of these albums are loaded with filler especially the Illusions. If you look at either of those Illusion albums seperately and not as a whole you should realise that they are the weakest collections of tracks left.

Re: Best album of the 90s elimination- Round 17
All i ever read about on GNR boards these days is how the UYI albums are full of filler, but GNR filler kicks the ass out of a band like Pearl Jam's best track to me. I think shotgun blues is better than jermy and all that....sue me
Re: Best album of the 90s elimination- Round 17
Metallica....and for the record, my favorite album of the 90's has nothing to do with "grunge" or UYI.......OK COMPUTER. Lyrically and sonically brilliant from start to finish. Lyrics and music were PERFECT for the time it was released. The Dark Side of the Moon for the 90's. Shits all over these last 4.
