Re: Best album of the 90s elimination- Round 12
Too much hate for Nirvana on this board.
Rage. A good band, made it very far & flew under the radar. For their time though, they originated the rock/rap sound, & were original. But I gotta vote them off. They're up against heavyweights.

Both their albums had a good run in this, although I was a bit surprised by Nevermind's departure.
The hate for Soundgarden is much more noticeable. The same group votes for them every round since the beginning. The Nirvana votes were more random and dispersed. Its amazing that both records are still in, and I'm gonna laugh if/when they sneak away with a victory.
Who just voted for Superunknown?

Soundgarden has 2 albums left, Nirvana now has 0.
Nirvana didn't have a pack voting for them every round. The fact Soundgarden continues to survive shows the strength of those two records, even when receiving 25-30% of the votes each round, they don't get eliminated. We know Badmotorfinger is leaving this soon as general statistics will finally go in that direction, but I think its pretty cool that an album that was shit on since the opening round is still here in round 12.
I'll dedicate this song to the Soundgarden voters....

I'd hate to see Rage go, that and Dirt are the last 2 albums up there that I love and still play a lot. Politically-inspired hard rock is still something we need more of. The De la Rocha/Morello combo is about as dynamic as any singer/guitarist of the 90s. They worked amazingly well together.
It had a good run, but I think Badmotorfinger's time has come.
