Aerosmith Toy Missing From The Attic
by Paul Cashmere - June 16 2009

Aerosmith`s bold move to perform their classic `Toys In The Attic` album live has hit a snag. Steven Tyler cannot sing the last song anymore.

‘You See Me Crying’ has become too difficult for Tyler to recreate.

Aerosmith announced they were taking the album on tour and playing in from start to finish but it ain’t gonna happen folks.

‘Toys In the Attic’ gave us their now classic ‘Sweet Emotion’.

Aerosmith will do the album for another two weeks and then switch to the follow-up, 1976’s ‘Rocks’.

I saw them Saturday (Great show, by the way only 4 of 17 songs from after 1980).

I didn't know of the plan to do all of Toys on tour until afterwards, I was just happy to have a show that was full of old album cuts. They did Combination on top of all the Toys songs.

Once I found out they had said they were going to play it all, I was a bit disappointed that they didn't play You See Me Cryin'.  I guess now I know why.

And Hell, now I'm ready to go again if they're going to start playing Rocks instead.

Yeah I haven't seen Aerosmith in a few years but every time I've seen them they put on a fantastic show.  That's the one problem with these older bands though, it's hard for these guys to be able to shriek like they used to.  All in all though, the crowd will help out whenever needed.  Steven could just aim the mic to the crowd during the tough parts.

^  I saw Aerosmith 5 times between 1993 and 1998 or 99.  They didn't leave the road very long, so if you were a fan and a fan of going to shows, they were always coming around.

That last show I saw was aweful, they were obviously going through the motions. It was also just a hit parade.  That's cool for the casual fans, but for a hardcore who'd seen them a few times already it seemed pointless.  That's why I have had no interest in seeing them for 10 years.

I only last minute decided to go to this show because it was at one of my favorite places to see a show (Alpine Valley in WI) that I hadn't been to for over a decade, and some friends I hadn't seen in a while were going.

I'm glad I did, it was a great show, and the crack about going again when they start playing Rocks wasn't a joke.

Yeah I saw them 4 times I believe around the same period you mentioned.  Rocks is considered by many to be their best album isn't it?  So that would probably be an upgrade for most.

Fuck, I passed on seeing Aerosmith this summer because I figured if they don't play some Rocks shit (the last tour lists I read about were pretty sappy) that it was no fuckin' use going. And, now they're playing the whole album. Fuck.
