Bridge Repair Funding

Wait, I thought you were in favor of fixing our rotting bridges? Of course not. Only bridges you like are bridges to nowhere that include a ton of pork.

Student Loan Lender Subsidy Cuts and Student Grants

No Vote

http://www.votesmart.org/issue_keyvote_ … an_id=9490

Ouch. You didn't show up to vote for increases in loans and PELL grants for poor kids. Now please shut the fuck up regarding helping in this regard because you had a chance and didn't do it.

Amtrak Reauthorization

No Vote

http://www.votesmart.org/issue_keyvote_ … an_id=9490

Not interested in helping Amtrak to improve its services, figuring out which routes are actually feasible, doing studies comparing our system to other countries, and to build routes in anticipation of the 2010 Olympics? Awesome.

Farm, Nutrition, and Bioenergy Act of 2007 (Farm Bill)

No Vote

http://www.votesmart.org/issue_keyvote_ … an_id=9490

Great job! You care so little about our agriculture industry you weren't willing to vote on this. Is it because it included a mini tax cut for ethanol producers? This bill also included mandatory labeling on foreign meats coming into this country. It also provided a tax credit for energy generated from wind. I thought you were for that? Oh wait, I forgot. You're only for things as long as you don't have to make a decision.

Economic Stimulus Plan

No Vote

http://www.votesmart.org/issue_keyvote_ … an_id=9490

I thought you were for this? Of course not! That would have required a vote. I have to show this to those who wont bother clicking these links. Here's what he was afraid to vote on...

- Allows a tax credit in 2008 of an amount equal to an individual's net income tax liability or $600 (or $1,200 for a joint return), whichever is less (Sec. 101).

- Allows at least a $300 tax credit (or a $600 credit for a joint return) for taxpayers who have a qualified income of at least $3,000 (Sec. 101).

- Defines "qualified income" as earned income, social security benefits for seniors and tier 1 railroad retirees, and certain veterans' compensations and pensions (Sec. 101).

- Allows a $300 tax credit per child (Sec. 101).

- Denies eligibility to undocumented immigrants (Sec. 101).

- Appropriates an additional $266.31 million for the Department of Treasury, to remain available until September 30, 2009 (Sec. 101).

- Increases the limits on the maximum original principal obligation of mortgages for Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, and for the Federal Housing Administration (Sec. 201, 202).

This was a democratic bill by the way. His inability to take a stand on anything crosses party lines. Luckily for families in need, this passed with a majority on both sides of the aisle.

Defense Authorizations Bill

No Vote

http://www.votesmart.org/issue_keyvote_ … an_id=9490

Not supporting the troops which would have included a pay raise? I'm shocked. Actually, I'm not shocked. Your record is very anti military and your ability to not take a stand on anything is well documented. Luckily for our troops, this passed with a majority with no help from you.

Health Care for Indigenous Peoples

No Vote

http://www.votesmart.org/issue_keyvote_ … an_id=9490

Vote to fund and expand programs related to Native American health care. You wont show up for that? Why, because they aren't black? Of course this passed. No help from you though.

National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2008

No Vote

http://www.votesmart.org/issue_keyvote_ … an_id=9490

No vote again? This had one of your so called visions in it....restoring Habeas Corpus. Of course that would have required making a decision.

Child Custody Protection Act

Voted No

http://www.votesmart.org/issue_keyvote_ … an_id=9490

This bill would have required minors to get permission from parents before going out of state to get an abortion. In other words, Obama wants kids being hauled out of state by men to get abortions before mommy and daddy find out.

Fucking creep.

I'll add to this later. Tons of info on this site and I like how its broke down into categories. Much more user friendly than the Senate's site.

To show how I'm not partisan, I'll start an identical thread on McCain tomorrow.

Don't bother. It's well known Obama has been on the campaign trail for a year now, probably has missed alot of votes in that time period. However, here is how the voting went down on those bills, was his vote really needed, or did he know these would pass:

Yes   No
60 -33
79 -12
70 -22
79 -14
81 -16
91  -3
93 -10
92 -3

So the standards for his record are so low that we now have to exclude bills that would have passed without him?

Admittedly I was looking at more recent bills considering whats been going on. I've yet to dig through McCain's on this site, but I'm sure there's no votes there as well.

When I pick up on this, I'll go back to the 05-06 period when he had no excuses.

Whats your stance on the Child Custody Act? If you had a daughter, do you want Obama letting your daughter be taken across state lines to get an abortion without your consent? An abortion isn't an episode of Sesame Street. There are risks involved, including death.

Just a heads-up, you'll have to go back to April to find a bill McCain voted on.

Child custody: yes

not a lot of difference

James why did you post this? I mean I know why, but McCain is just as absentee.

If you want to post a thread on something, bitch about Obama and his constant 'bridge to nowhere' cracks, and CONSTANTLY INACCURATELY stating Sarah Palin's political history. His shtick sounds straight off the MoveOn.org website.

And sadly, he's lost brownie points (pardon the expression) with me over that in the last couple of weeks.

He's just stating outright internet BULLCRAP.

I post facts backed up by the goverment's own websites. If I was jacking off to right wing blogs, you might have a point.

I make sure to use the governments own websites so I can easily dodge accusations such as that. Takes more time to dig through those sites, but its worth it since the candidates own records don't lie.

Here's McCain on the same bills:
Bridge repair: no vote
Student loans: no vote
Amtrak: no vote
Farm bill: no vote
Stimulus: yes
Health care: no vote
Defense: no vote
National defense: no vote
Child custody: yes

Well like I said I hadn't got to McCain yet. Was only looking through the Obama stuff. McCain will feel my wrath soon.

not a lot of difference

There's a difference in giving money to families and not letting men drag teens across state lines to get abortions without parental consent then there is in ignoring families and approving of minors having abortions whenever they and their boyfriends feel like it.
