Re: How did the blogs get so much power?
Serious question. The blogs played a huge role in this election going down the toilet. When did the media decide to get their news from random blogs? Do journalists not work anymore?
The bloggers have had a huge influence on this race. Not gonna blame it all on liberals since all sides are to blame, but they played a hefty role in it. Whether or not Obama approved of the original smears on Palin is debatable, but the blogs started that bullshit with unverifiable information and gossip. The media runs with these various stories and then of course its all bullshit. Sites like factcheck have to work overtime just to separate the teaspoon of wheat from the ten tons of chaff.Everyone winds up looking like fools and the candidates(one more than the other) wind up suffering as a result.
Is this the future of the media? Where some dude living in his mom's basement decides what news the world gets to watch?
Its not just blogs either. Its the extreme left and right wing sites as well.
Its mind boggling that its come down to this.
Re: How did the blogs get so much power?
I agree. These bloggers are a bunch of lightweights who are not helping Obama on any level. THEY ARE HURTING HIM.
And I don't think Obama agrees with about 95% of the bullcrap that is said. THEY think. The DEMS think. Dean, Pelosi. Huffington, NBC. That this guy is John Kerry II. He ain't. It couldn't be further from the truth.
For the first time in years, the Democrats have a really good candidate, and they are driving his own campaign into the ground, because they are playing party lines. Biden is contributing to it too.
Re: How did the blogs get so much power?
Yeah, blogs are junk. I'm glad, Axlin08 that you separate Obama from the "liberals" and whatnot being blasted (and I don't mean here, but in general), because he has nothing to do with it. It's not just liberals, anyway. Remember the blog about Obama showing off his erection? Yeah, it cannot get any lower than that.
Re: How did the blogs get so much power?
The fact is, the advent of the internet has contributed to the further lowering of the political game. It was always played dirty as hell, and with the internet it's become the blessing and curse of the entire process. When someone is lying, you can debunk it with the internet. Problem is the lie usually was created with the exact same device.
The Democrats, yes the party, and liberals alike, have unfortunately gained a hardcore fringe of society to their cause. The Republicans have them too, but not on the same level, and not on the same issues. The Democrats unfortunately have suffered a worse fate than the Republicans on this, because this extreme left-wing existance on an almost facist level. They are so convinced they are right, and they couldn't be more wrong and disconnected from society. Every Democratic candidate that comes along they think is some leader to speak for their cause, and no politician will turn down votes, but the stronger this internet fringe continues to gain strength, the same people that probably contributed to Obama $230mil he gained on his website, they are gonna slit the throat of the Democratic party.
The Republicans have the thumpers. And with this election, they are showing progress to distancing themselves from that side as time goes on. It'll be their benefit, and they'll continue to gain strength as America's party, simply based on their average run of the mill moderate attitude, especially with guys like McCain.
Guys like Huckabee will never get elected.
It's really sad, because the Democrats are not wrong on everything, and the Republicans are starting to run THE OTHER WAY from these people in their party, but the Democrats no matter how hard they try just run right towards the fire, and at this point, I don't know what they could do to stop it. Maybe Obama gets elected, and ushers in a new era for that party, and their attitude. But have old school "don't get it" guys like Biden - ain't gonna help.
