Re: Led Zeppelin

I'm not sure if it's actually that big a piece of news but there was no Led Zep thread anyway so I figured I'd start one, but there's old live and I think exclusive footage of Led Zep on their myspace page. Maybe people have already seen it but I know they say footage of Led Zep live is as rare has hens teeth so I thought I'd mention it. They're playing Kashmir I think.

Not long until the reunion show now, it's a long shot but is anyone going?

JIMMY PAGE Apologizes For LED ZEPPELIN Reunion Concert Postponement - Nov. 5, 2007
The heavily anticipated reunion of the surviving members of LED ZEPPELIN, scheduled for November 26 at the O2 Arena in London, has been postponed until December 10. According to a press statement, the concert, a tribute to late Atlantic Records founder Ahmet Ertegun, has been pushed back because ZEPPELIN guitarist Jimmy Page fractured a finger. The injury, which Page sustained last weekend, will keep him from picking up a guitar for three weeks, after which a specialist said that Page will be able to resume rehearsals for the rescheduled show.

Page has released the following statement regarding the matter:

"As you all know by now I was regrettably put in a situation where I had to postpone my performance at the Ahmet Ertegun benefit show, on November 26th, due to a fractured finger.

"We have now rescheduled this show to take place, at the same venue, on December 10th.

"In doing so I was very conscious of the fact that many people are travelling great distances to attend. I do want to let everyone know that this decision was unavoidable. My apologies to anyone who has been inconvenienced by this change.

"I would also like to thank everyone else involved for their help with making this change. Harvey Goldsmith, the trustees of the Ahmet Ertegun Foundation and, of course, the other artists who so willingly agreed to join us on the show.

"I look forward to the 10th December!"

All tickets for the show, which were sold through a worldwide lottery, will be valid for the rescheduled date.

Anyone unable to attend the show on December 10 will be able to receive a full refund until noon U.K. time on November 14. Tickets available as a result of refunds will be offered to random ballot winners drawn from the original lottery. Information on obtaining a refund can be found at AhmetTribute.com.

The show will feature Page, singer Robert Plant and bassist John Paul Jones performing together for the first time in 18 years, with Jason Bonham, son of late ZEPPELIN drummer John Bonham, sitting behind the kit. Bill Wyman and the RHYTHM KINGS, Paul Rodgers, Paolo Nutini, and FOREIGNER are also scheduled to appear.

Rumors continue to circulate that a full LED ZEPPELIN tour is in the works for 2008, although the band has remained ambivalent about any future plans.

Re: Led Zeppelin

Wish i was going...but was unlucky in the ballot (unsurprisingly!)  I know one person going though.  I still think I'll go on the night and listen from outside - why the hell not!  I have a friend who knows the manager of the Dome and tickets for this gig are completely impossible.

I've seen Plant twice, first time at Glastonbury in 2002 and then at the Royal Albert Hall, London in 2005 -both times he was superb.  His voice was spot-on, gave me goosebumps, the whole lot.  I've also been lucky enough to meet Jimmy Page - but I've never seen him play live.  I'd be happy as fk to hear Kashmir from outside - the roar and emotion of the crowd will be incredible.

ED ZEPPELIN's JIMMY PAGE Says It's 'A Bit Selfish To Do Just One Show' - Nov. 13, 2007
Channel 4 reports that LED ZEPPELIN may embark on a full-scale tour after their reunion gig, according to guitarist Jimmy Page.

The band, who are gearing up for their one-off show at the O2 arena in honour of Atlantic Records founder Ahmet Ertegun, are considering doing a string of dates as Page thinks it would be selfish of the band to put all their energy into just one gig.

"It's a bit silly not to because there is such massive demand," said Jimmy, who is resting up his injured finger, to Guitar World magazine.

"It's a bit selfish to do just one show. If that's it, we probably shouldn't have taken the genie out of the bottle."

The band's rescheduled gig at the O2 Arena will take place on December 10.
