i'm really curious about this film but i can't stop getting a "the mist"-ish vibe from it. the big unknown thing that comes and kills everything in sight and nobody knows what it is. end of the world/terorists !?

And Lofton, I'm surprised at the Tarantino slam. Like with Kevin Smith, as a fan I find his often hyper-real dialogue exchanges quirky and charming. The fact the characters speak in an otherwise totally unnatural, forced way and spew out words that are distinctly Tarantino's is so ... refreshing.

Not really meant as a slam since I do enjoy most of his work, but it reaches a point where its predictable and monotonous.

He is creative, but it starts droning on and eventually its like, "ok, get to the story now". He almost crossed a line in Death Proof. Its a really good film, but the dialogue with the second set of chicks was near vomit inducing and took away from the story instead of adding to it.

Another good example is Reservoir Dogs. The scene about tipping is funny. For five seconds. Once you start ranting about tipping for 10 minutes, you start thinking of other things and the movie loses some of its impact.

I wanted to see this but it's been getting panned by everyone. It seems to be hated more than Lady in the Water or The Village.

Re: M. Night Shyamalan's "The Happening"

I heard the same thing that it's getting terrrible reviews and that the story is a rediculious and I was told what it was about and I must say it sounds rediculious, Mark Walhberg is getting bashed for a certain scene too.

I don't know, I really have been extremely disappointed in all his films after Signs.  So much so I refused to see Lady in The Water after I saw The Villiage.   This I was willing to give a chance, now that I am hearing how much it sucked, I am either going to watch it to laugh at it when it comes out on DVD or not at all.

That sounds terrible. I've read other reviews as well, and they all say this sucks. Apparently some of the kills are pretty good at the beginning, but as the movie goes on it deteriorates.

I'll download this when a screener leaks and watch it.
