We've heard rumors of "Atlas Shrugged" being glam rock, the "Jackie Chan" leak is late 90s alternative inspired, and the second half of CD is supposedly a bit meaner.

Do they play it safe with an AFD re-tread? Or do something more bold and modern?

Only listened to Apocalyptic Love which sounded like old GNR. Will have to listen to the later one at some point..

The easiest thing to do would be releasing one already finished song with a Slash solo/Duff bass line pasted in to the song. Push it as the new comeback song and the general public would be none the wiser. No one outside of forum nerds even knows of CD II.

If there's a catchy, straight up rocker in the vault....use that. Last thing they need is a ballad and I don't think an unconventional track like Silkworms/Riad would go over very well either.
