Re: GILBY On GUNS N' ROSES Reunion: 'I'm Happy That The Guys Are Back"
During a brand new interview with Argentinean rock journalist Lucas H. Gordon, former GUNS N' ROSES guitarist Gilby Clarke was once again asked for his thoughts on the reunion of long-estranged GN'R singer Axl Rose and guitarist Slash for a handful of comeback shows in April and a full U.S. tour during the summer. Clarke, who was not an original member of the group, said: "In all honesty, I haven't seen [any of the recent GN'R shows], so I don't have an opinion yet."
He continued: "First of all, I'm happy that the guys are back together. I think it's really important to music, especially rock and roll music, that GUNS N' ROSES is a viable band that's out performing right now. I know Axl has been out there with his band playing, but it doesn't get any better than having Slash back in the band. So with Slash and Axl back together, I really think they can have some great shows and hopefully write some good music together and keep the band name and legacy alive."
Regarding whether he thinks the GN'R reunion will last, Gilby said: "I was a part of the band twenty years ago, and a lot has happened in that amount of time. I don't know… I honestly don't know. People were asking me questions last year: 'Do you think GUNS N' ROSES are gonna get back together?' And I kept saying, 'No.' I didn't. I honestly didn't. So I'm surprised, just like a lot of people are, that the band's back together. But I think it's a great thing for music."
Asked if he would rejoin GUNS N' ROSES if he was asked to take part in the band's reunion tour, Gilby said: "You know, I don't really wanna answer that, because I don't know. I honestly don't know. It's a hypothetical question, it's a hypothetical situation. So I really don't know. I mean, before all this happened, people [would] say, 'Would you be a part of the reunion?' And I always said, 'Absolutely!' Look, I love the music of the band, I love the band and the performance, but this GUNS N' ROSES isn't the GUNS N' ROSES that I was a part of, so it's a hard question to ask right now."
Clarke replaced founding guitarist Izzy Stradlin in the GUNS lineup in 1991, during the "Use Your Illusion" tour, and stayed with the band for three years.
He has continued as a producer and solo artist since then, while also playing in ROCK STAR SUPERNOVA, HEART and other acts.
Clarke reunited with GUNS members Slash, Steven Adler, Matt Sorum and Duff McKagan at the band's Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame induction in April 14, 2012, although he himself was not inducted as part of the band.
Gilby is currently recording a new solo album that will feature guest appearances by drummers Stephen Perkins (JANE'S ADDICTION) and Matt Starr (ACE FREHLEY) along with members of Clarke's solo band, EJ Curse (bass/vocals) and Troy Patrick Farrell (drums/vocals).

Yeah, right.

Yeah, right.
Can't really fault him for the answer though.
Saying "Hell ya!" makes it weird and possibly affects his image (in his world/the people he deals with) if GNR never give him a call or shout out (which is likely.)
Saying "no" would just be bizarre on all levels. Who wouldn't say yes to that.
So all things considered it's wise to leave the door open (through ambiguity) even if he assumes the chances are low.
Overall it's nice to hear him say good things about the band and I thought he came off well.

This pisses me off. Its not like it takes a nerd to search up some clips of the show. Whole goddamn world was like a GNR celebration for about two solid weeks. He wasn't even curious as to how they sounded? I don't buy any excuses. No one is too busy to watch a five minute clip on youtube and you know fans were likely sending him clips on social media.
I hope this article is read by Axl, Slash, and Duff.

I love Pawnshop Guitars but now I hope you are never asked this question you apparently would have difficulties answering. Its one thing to say this privately but to do so in the media is low.
By the way Gilby, there were people saying that same thing when YOU joined. GNR has always evolved which is the reason you got to be a part of it in the first place but now you're criticizing it?
Why cant he take Tracey's approach? She's excited for it, blown away by the performances(even the Axl/DC shows) and says she's open to doing shows in the future if its ever put on the table. Instead Gilby has to act all superior like this lineup isn't even worth the time to watch footage or he would have to think about joining. Its worse than Matt's smirk. At least he has the brains to keep his mouth shut if he's not positive about it in the hopes of doing something in the future.
Gilby has a career because of GNR. I bought Kills For Thrills back then Gilby. It fucking sucked. You lucked into Izzy exiting stage left at the perfect moment for you to come in. In 1992, with YOU, Tracey, Roberta, Zig Zag, and the horns, that was NOT the GNR the world originally fell in love with. Had the internet been around, many people would have complained no Izzy=no GNR, too many backup singers, fuck the horns, etc.
That "bloated" 92-93 lineup you were a part of put on kick ass performances and won the fans over. People bought tickets to those shows knowing in advance they would have to wait HOURS for the show to start. Millions bought tickets anyways because it was a killer band. There are people to this day who consider that their favorite lineup.
This lineup is doing the same thing. It may not be your daddy's GNR but they mean business and are giving the fans exactly what they want, doing it in spades, and winning over the detractors.
Every single person ever associated with GNR from Matt and Gilby to Tracey, Zig Zag, and the girls on the horns need to be careful about statements they make in public. Even though this is a solid lineup about to embark on a major tour and may have long term plans, that does not mean the window has been painted shut on future guest appearances or even shows featuring certain lineups in the future. Even if there are no plans to use any ex members now, we know that famous saying about GNR.....plans change.

Re: GILBY On GUNS N' ROSES Reunion: 'I'm Happy That The Guys Are Back"
Oh Gilby.
Please just shut the fuck up.
I mean even my nemesis Matt Sorum knows how to shut up. He did more for Guns than you could possibly do.
Gilby Clarke is nothing to Guns N' Roses. He is a pure and simple tour replacement.
He never wrote anything with the band of any value.
In fact, Axl replaced him with a guy who could write shit that didn't gel with Slash.
Gilby Clarke also has really no music of value in the broad sense.
No one is ever like "Hey, Radio guy put some Gilby Clarke on man."
To sum up Gilby, he's a guy who is mainly a bar / pub player that got a lucky break with Guns N' Roses and whored it out for all its worth.
Post Slash: Buckethead, Robin Finck, Tommy Stinson have never whored out the Guns N' Roses name to gain them a wider following. AND THOSE GUYS WROTE SHIT IN THE BAND unlike Gilby "I have shitty facial hair" Clarke.
To conclude, eat a dick Gilby.
Re: GILBY On GUNS N' ROSES Reunion: 'I'm Happy That The Guys Are Back"
I don't get all the hate for Gilby and Matt. It's like we're actively looking for someone to hate now that Slash and Axl are friendly again. I guess we just need something to bitch about.
I choose the people bitching about things that don't matter.

I am done with my Matt hate.
Gilby hate is for his low blow.
And the fact he was just a tour guy in Guns, nothing more nothing less.
If he wants to make a slight dig at this lineup I'll defend it.
Obviously, it ain't an issue for Slash and Duff or they would have backed out.
Glad to see you back posting more. I remember the days when it would be buzzsaw this and buzzsaw that.
Was it you who had the feud with Bono?
Is he going to comeback finally and stop with the MYGNR shit.

It was more a general comment than directed at you...there's more hate at some of the other sites.
I didn't really have a feud with Bono. We actually agreed on most things and his posting style made me seem like a saint sometimes, but I thought he crossed the line a couple times and didn't disagree with his banning. I thought he deserved it and some of the stuff he pulled after being banned didn't help his cause any. I hung out with him a little in Vegas and it was all good. I would even be supportive of him coming back, but there are a few that seem to be very opposed to it, so I am not sure what will happen. I won't be president of the bring back bono fanclub, but I would vote for him to be allowed back if such a vote ever took place. We've all (well maybe not all of us) said stuff or done stuff that we regret from time to time.

Gilby did well enough on the UYI tour, but I don't think he holds a candle to Richard or Izzy. Clearly he wishes he was involved but doesn't want to come out an say it. Can't fault him for that, but he would do better to be quiet on this stuff rather than come across all bitter and shit.
I've seen this Bono's posts on MyGNR.. its like the guy is constantly looking for a pissing match and if you disagree with his opinion you're an idiot, moronic, stupid.

I dunno, I'm not in a rush to watch porn of my ex-girlfriend sucking off some new guy either.
He's probably a little bitter, he got the job of a life time getting into GNR during the peak of it's success, but then he was fired rather than leaving, he also never found himself invited to return and was also overlooked for VR.
If I was him I wouldn't be keen to rush out and watch videos of Richard going "hey look - it's the dude who replaced me, who seems to be better than me at my instrument, and is picking up checks I'll not get".
Like why should he give a shit to watch - especially if GNR can't get their act together and do something new - he saw slash play the godfather and duff play attitude from a closer vantage point than you or I, no need to watch them replicate it in 2016.
Why cant he take Tracey's approach?
I don't think you can really equate being rhythm guitarist in one of the greatest hard rock bands of all time at the absolute peak of their success with being a back up dancer/singer.
In 1993, If tracey misses the connecting flight to the show, it goes on just with a little less harmony on the choruses. If Gilby missed what would they do? Postpone most likely unless they could teach the skid row guys the songs in an hour or two.
