Foo Fighters will begin work on a new studio album later this week.

Dave Grohl confirmed that the band will re-group in Los Angeles in a few days to start work on new material during an interview at the Brit Awards 2013.

I return to Los Angeles tomorrow to start work on a Foo Fighters record," Grohl revealed during a chat with host James Corden.

Pushed for when we will get to hear the new material, Grohl responded: "Eventually."

The new record will be Foo Fighters' eighth studio album and the follow-up to 2011's Wasting Light.

Grohl recently formed supergroup the Sound City Players, which included Stevie Nicks and members of Nirvana and Foo Fighters.

it seems every FF album ghrol seems to have a tortured process making it & isn't afraid to let people know either. a bit like bono & u2 in that regard. they always have to tell everyone what a chore & hard work their great jobs are.
they should go be nurses & wipe incontinent old peoples asses instead if it's so much trouble to make a rock album, y'know?
(ok, i know i'm reading a bit much into this little quip he made to some nobody presenter of a nothing brit awards show, but trust me, it'll be a massive drag for him to make this album like always. & i mean having said that, i'm sure yer man taylor hawkins isn't the easiest guy to work or get along with.)

Heard about this a couple days ago and forgot to post my thoughts on the matter. Still recovering from the flu. Like Russ, I can't wait for the next album especially after that juggernaut that was Wasting Light. I expected a few good songs; but I was pleasantly surprised. Say what you want about this band; but they are a touring machine. Every time Dave says they are going on hiatus or a break it usually lasts no more than a year before they go back into writing and making demos. The man is productive and sounds like the rest of the boys want the same energy. Nothing wrong with that. I remember when the Greatest Hits came out, Dave said this would be a benchmark for about a 3 to 4 year break to focus on families and other projects when it barely lasted a year until they decided to do Wasting's pre production. Cool with me.

Maybe while Dave is working on that, he can have some time to get a few shows together with Sir Paul, Krist, and Pat. Just a thought, Just a really good idea that needs to fucking happen. 9

:haha: U2 and Bono haven't said anything remotely close to this since the Pop album in 1996. If anything Bono is always braggin up how well things are going, how on fire The Edge is, how the songs are just coming to them. U2 has never been bitchy about the process since the 90's. Pop made sense cause they were up against time cause the tour had already been booked and they felt the never finshed the album properly and Achtung Baby was the begining of an entirely new direction so it mad sense they struggled  a bit with the process. Other than that the last 13 years they'v done nothing but talked about how great the writing process has been...

Ummm...... Axl fucking Rose anybody?

I'm excited as hell for another Foo record after their last outing.

Like you this is how I heard about it. My jaw didn't drop though as I never belived they were taking a  hiatus to begin with. My reaction was a "woo!" :haha:

White Limo, Bridge Burning, Walk, These Days, Dear Rosemary, I Should of Known (extremely heavy lyrics with Krist guest pounding on the bass). I could go on. A ton of power in those recordings.

Nothing really douche-rock about Foos, even if they do sit well on commercial radio rock stations.

I absolutely loved Wasting Light, and every album is usually solid with some gems, so no doubt this next one will be good too.

Just so long as they don't start incorporating dubstep or shit like that, it'll be good! 14
