I'm actually looking forward to watching this.  This is only because I loved the Luther series (available on Netflix).  I have zero confidence that NBC will not screw this up by canceling it or putting it on a shitty timeslow.  This would have been far better on a cable channel though.

The only upshot is that by being on NBC if it draws ANY decent ratings at all it stands a good chance of getting a second season.  NBC's been in toilet for the last few years.

I agree with slashsfro, if this was on a cable channel I'd think "that could be a really cool idea" and I'd check it out. Never saw Luther but it's still on a list I have of things to watch on Netflix, I know it's really well liked. The major networks, particularly NBC, now have a reputation for canceling shows, moving them around, and in general mishandling them into oblivion. Hard to get into anything on the major networks without going through "will-it-won't-it" renewal stress every year.

I only watch NBC's Thursday night comedies (Community, Parks and Rec, 30 Rock) and I'm sure that night will suck in a few years too.

The problem with the networks is they are still losing overall viewership to cable/satellite/internet each year, because of the lack of originality. So they are trying to get more original.

The problem? You still have to sell ads with these shows and they still have to be simplistic enough to grab a casual audience. Thus the reason the best shows will never usually be on the network, because there's still a status quo on the network.

NBC also greenlit some sort of "end of the world" show to try to steal Walking Dead's thunder.
