On Slash's 2010 self-titled release, the guitarist worked with some of rock's greatest singers – Ozzy Osbourne, Lemmy, Chris Cornell and Iggy Pop, among others. When it came time to tour, those vocalists obviously had other committments, so the guitarist recuited Alter Bridge singer Myles Kennedy, as well as bassist Todd Kerns and drummer Brent Fitz, to travel around the world with him.

He wasn't looking for this to be a long-term band, but the chemistry was undeniable. "It was one of those moments where from on high you get sort of a blessing and get all the right people without looking for them. It just happened," Slash tells Rolling Stone. "From the onset we clicked. We just got better and better over time."

That cohesion is on display on Made In Stoke 24/7/11, a live chronicle of the guitarist's return to Stoke-on-Trent, the town where he was raised until the age of five. Featuring a mix of Guns N' Roses tracks ("Rocket Queen," "Sweet Child O' Mine," "Mr. Brownstone"), Slash's Snakepit tunes and material from Slash, the live album shows the quartet has melded into a real band.

Making it official, they're already at work on an untitled album due in April of next year. Slash knew very early this was the group to make his next album, he says. "I learned way back in March of 2010, when we did our first show at the Roxy, [and even] before that, when we were rehearsing, there was something that clicked with those guys," he says. "It was just always a lot of fun, and I decided that’s who I wanted to do the record with."

Thus far they've recorded three tracks, with 14 more to come in December and January when Kennedy gets off the road with Alter Bridge. Slash is pumped up about what they've done so far, calling it "fucking rad." "On the last record, creatively it was pretty open-ended. This one is very diverse, but it’s one band," he says. "It’s really cool. It rocks really hard. There are some cool epic songs and a couple of really cool ballads. I hate calling them ballads – more bluesy tunes. It just covers a lot."

Slash sounds great, the band.... I guess it's the best Slash has gotten since GN'R. That's about the nicest thing I can say. His players are average, and Myles... has GOT to be an acquired taste. I guess he's better than Scott.

Production values on the album though are TIGHT. Great fuckin' mix.

I gotta admit hearing Slash's guitar earlier this year, and Axl's voice a couple weeks ago... you can't help but wish those two could just jam a few songs for old time's sake. It'd at least be a flashback to the UYI days.

Myles is FAR better than scott...scott is good on VR tracks...but no way he can sing a GNR song to save his life...and he also would have stuggled on 90% of the snakepit/slash solo stuff.

Myles is good on VR, good on snakepit, great on his tracks on the slash album, passable on the ones that arn't his, and tollerable on GNR (lets face it no one can sing GNR properly but Axl - as even if they have the range like myles they dont have the feel/anger..)

As for the band, I don't care about drummers unless it's a metal outfit like A7X that's going to need complex drums, but for a GNR style track it's not much difference to me...the other guys seem to be doing ok....allthough I'll give you....would be interesting to see this same set list with Matt and Duff added...

I guarantee you if Matt & Duff were there, it'd sound like a UYI show with Myles up front. Alot better.

Even when I saw Slash live, I could hear immediately that Frank Ferrer smokes the guy Slash has got. Then again Frank's been playing nothing but GN'R since 2006.

Even still, i'll still probably pick this up just for collector's purposes being I did see a show during this tour.

Slash is on fire on that disc. The band are... passable. Like a pub band. And I can't stand Myles - sorry, I just find his singing voice really irritating. If Slash were to hook up with the VR guys and get Chester Bennington on vocals - pretty much the only guy with the vocal range and the venom to spit out Axl's lyrics - I would be a very happy camper. But I just can't be having with all this solo stuff.

Or if Axl would just swallow the bile and do a couple of songs with the old team at the R&RHoF - especially with Slash on form like this - that would make my day.

Yeah I actually sat down and listened to the first half of the album last night... jesus christ. Myles actually found a way to sound worse than when I heard him live, and even then it was... okay.

Myles actually sounds the best on Paradise City. For whatever reason he sings that track differently. Another 'for whatever reason', Slash kept My Michelle off this release, which they performed at my show, and Myles sings that one differently AND BETTER, than what is represented on this album.

But Myles best stuff is HIS songs on Slash 2010. Back From Cali & Starlight are the two best sounding Myles songs, with maybe Paradise City bringing up the rear. Which actually gives me hope that MAYBE Slash II will actually be really really good, because the songs will be built around Myles' voice, similar to Cali & Starlight.

I think Myles actually sounds good on the Snakepit songs too. But obviously GN'R & VR is ALL Axl & Scotty. But even when I say "best", it's in terms of Myles-only vocals. I still think it's an extremely eccentric voice.
