Re: New Song: Santigold/ Karen O - "Go"
Santigold rocks out on “GO” featuring Yeah Yeah Yeahs’ Karen O. The track, produced by Q-Tip, Switch, and Santi with YYY’s Nick Zinner on guitar, features a punked-out instrumental that pummels underneath Santi’s hypnotic melody lines. “People want my power/ And they want my station/ Stormed my winter palace/ But they couldn’t take it/ All the way to Paris/ Run my reputation/ Try to pull my status/ But they couldn’t fake it,” she sings.
“GO” has more than one meaning, according to the Roc Nation artist. “On one hand it’s a challenge, beckoning any would-be usurpers to come show and prove. On the other, it’s a call to myself to rise to the occasion,” she explained. “‘GO’ is a ‘fun’ song. It’s playful, but like many of my songs, lyrically it was an opportunity for me to vent. It’s about the difficulties of holding onto what’s yours, everything from your ideas and energy to your confidence.”

I thought this was kind of funny, and I could sympathize with her to a point.

Santigold Says LMFAO Make Her Cry
by Andrew Tijs on February 28, 2012
In an interview, electro artist Santigold has said the success of “joke band” LMFAO makes her cry.
The Karen O-, Mark Ronson- and Beastie Boys-collaborator recently did an interview with Pitchfork, where she said she was disappointed by the state of music now, singling out party-rockers LMFAO.
She said, “I think there’s a lack of true art, and the fanfare is valued over actual substance. It’s like you don’t have to make good music to be fucking huge. Now, I’ll say that, and all the little kids will be like, “Fuck you. I hope you die.” [laughs] Don’t let them think you dissed Lady Gaga!”
She then confessed that she cried after watching a music awards show last year, and continued, “I’m sorry, but LMFAO performed at the Super Bowl? Aren’t they a joke band? That type of shit makes me cry. I’m like, ‘Really?’”
Santigold went on to praise Jay-Z, said she introduced Beyonce to Diplo who ended up working on her ‘Run The World (Girls)’, and admitted she loves Adele.
Her new album, Master of My Make-Believe, is due out in May. Check out her latest single ‘Disparate Youth’ below.
