Monster Rocks Austin
lm_loaded_126.jpgFriday, March 18th, the Monster Energy Showcase will be delivering an evening full of heavy rock as Ex-Guns & Roses and current Velvet Revolver bassist Duff McKagan’s band ‘Loaded’ heads up a bill featuring the multi-platinum anthems of Puddle of Mudd and Filter along with one of the hottest young bands on the scene today Rev Theory, as well as 10 Years and new sensations Sinai.
Duff McKagan’s status is already cemented with his work with the famed Guns & Roses and Velvet Revolver (whom shall be returning to form shortly) but his side-project Duff McKagan’s Loaded continues to drive McKagan and his band towards the no-nonsense approach of punk icons like Johnny Thunders while blending a powerful melody utilizing Duff’s honest vocal delivery as found on their latest tracks “We Win” and “Fight On” from his soon to be released album The Taking (Eagle Rock Entertainment) coming out April 19th, 2011. Rock radio juggernauts Puddle Of Mudd have had a string of chart hits in their ever-evolving career that has led to platinum success. “Blurry”, “Control, “She Hates Me”, “Psycho” and “Away From Me” all have landed the band on modern rock play lists and Puddle look to continue their charting ways as they look to record the follow-up to their Icon retrospective. Cleveland’s Filter began its upward climb with the track “Hey Man, Nice Shot”, a controversial song that no doubt ended being of the most known rock tracks of the 90’s, and their debut Short Bus helped usher in the industrial rock revolution. Following albums and tracks like “Take A Picture” and “The Best Things” continued the bands surge. 2011 finds Filter still led by front man Richard Patrick as they continue to tour their latest album, The Trouble With Angels (Rocket Science Ventures).
Rev Theory continue to expand their audiences and with the release of Justice (Interscope Records), their third long-player featuring the active rock radio title track. It is the anticipated follow-up to 2008’s Light It Up If a band is defined by the road, then Rev Theory are a topographic map as they been the road constantly including tours with Buckcherry, Papa Roach, Avenged Sevenfold as well as headlining the Monster Energy stage for Crue Fest 2 travelling roadshow. They are currently headlining the Monster Energy Outbreak: Rock On The Rise Tour that also features Pop Evil, Hail The Villain, Aranda and The Black Cloud Collective (led by Atreyu’s Brandon Saller). 10 Years, still feeling the success of Feeding The Wolves (Universal/Republic) that includes their latest single “Fix Me” that landed at #2 on Active Rock Radio. The band is back on the road rocking dates through the South with support from Saving Abel before heading out as part of the Revolt Tour with Hollywood Undead and Drive A during April and May. Sinai was created from the core members of the international rock act Silvertide. After only five gigs they’re already filling clubs in their hometown of Philadelphia as well as receiving airplay on the popular WMMR. A return to the classic power trios of the past as the music churns, swings and is full of bottom-end and groove.
The Monster Energy Showcase will take place Friday, March 18th, 2011 (music begins at 8PM) at Austin Music Hall.
