Re: SLASH Says Rumors Of COREY TAYLOR Joining VELVET REVOLVER Have Been 'B
In a brand new interview with Australia's Courier Mail, Slash was asked about the rumors that STONE SOUR and SLIPKNOT frontman Corey Taylor could be adding VELVET REVOLVER to the list of bands he sings for.
"A couple of people have said one thing or another, but it's been blown out of proportion. I've made no comment on that one," Slash said of Taylor joining VELVET REVOLVER.
VELVET REVOLVER bassist Duff McKagan added fuel to the Corey Taylor rumors in a chat he did on February 9 at ESPN.com. Asked by a fan what the most important attribute is that a lead singer should have besides a great voice, McKagan responded, "Any good artist has to have . . . the ability to tap the dark stuff and have it be real. Great lead singers have the ability to tap that. No inhibitions helps as well. Axl (Rose) and Scott (Weiland) are two of the best front men ever. Corey Taylor is one of those guys as well. He can tap it."
When asked about the rumors that Taylor was going to join VELVET REVOLVER, McKagan wrote, "I can neither confirm nor deny . . . He is a bad dude though. I like him as a human being and a singer. He's the voice of a whole new generation."
Taylor himself "neither confirmed nor denied" the rumors in an interview with Billboard.com last month, merely laughing and saying, "To be continued!" when asked about it.
Taylor has been touring with STONE SOUR since last summer behind the band's "Audio Secrecy" album. He has been publicly ambivalent about continuing with SLIPKNOT in the wake of Gray's death, although he will join the band for some festival gigs this summer.
VELVET REVOLVER has been without a singer since firing Scott Weiland in April 2008. McKagan, guitarist Slash and drummer Matt Sorum have all hinted in recent months that the band was finally close to settling on a new frontman.

SLASH has swapped his signature top hat for another -- horror-film producer. The Guns N' Roses guitar god, who is back in Australia next week for the Soundwave Festival, launched Slasher Films at Sundance last month.
The new production house was sparked after Slash, a horror-film enthusiast, sat around talking about his favourite flicks with a mate, producer Rob Eric.
In the middle of the night, Eric came up with the name and the next morning he had the money.
"We're about to go into production with our first one. It's like when I first thought I wanted to be a guitar player in a rock band; I'm very excited," Slash says.
"Once we started up, it took about a year to find a script I wanted to do. I'm very specific, because I was raised into loving horror films.
"My mother was fanatical about them, and she took me to my first one when I was six -- it was at the drive-in, and it was a double feature with The Exorcist and Night Of The Living Dead."

As he continues his world tour with Myles Kennedy off the back of last year's debut solo record, Slash is already working on number two. "That's what I'm doing as we speak. I set up in my hotel room and record bits and pieces," he says.
"I'm extremely shy about anyone hearing anything before it's finished, so if I think someone can hear [through the walls], I'll put headphones on."
Slash remains mum on whether he has found a new singer for Velvet Revolver, his band with former Gunners members Duff McKagan and Matt Sorum.
Fellow Soundwaver Corey Taylor, of Slipknot and Stone Sour, has been rumoured as the new frontman.
"A couple of people have said one thing or another, but it's been blown out of proportion. I've made no comment on that one," Slash says of Taylor joining VR.
Soundwave is at the Sydney Showground on February 27.

sounds like Slash is the man on one side and the rest on the other re: Cory.

He's waiting for Axl to join VR.
j/k
I said this a long time ago. Axl should join VELVET REVOLVER. Wouldn't that be amazing? Let the Guns N' Roses legacy sail off into the sunset. END IT. Instead of a Guns N' Roses reuinion why not a Velvet Revolver revival? The new album could be called Phoenix Rising or somthing. hell don't even announce that Axl is the singer. Just bang out a kickass album in studio and release it. Then tour it afterwards.
Honestly could you imagine the fucking hype that would explode if VR released a blow your fucking mind first single on a new album and to the shock of the world Axl Rose was on vocals. Dare to dream cause that would be a better scenario than a "Guns N' Roses reunion" in my opinion. It would be cool, exciting, fresh and totally unexpecetd. I'd love it

That would be more appropriate than calling it GN'R. Anything without Izzy is not GN'R. But no way in hell it would happen, haha.
