Hinder is quite possibly one of the worst bands of the last decade to find success. I (seriously) would take Eagles of Death Metal over them.
If they don't like the album, hey that's fine, but don't start comparing your catalog to GNR's. My World is Estranged, compared to ANYTHING in Hinder's catalog.

I looked em up and i thought they were awful.. just nothing else to say about em theyre that pointless
All rock music today is pointless - regardless, they are more popular than GnR (at least in the US) with the fans that Axl needs to attract for CD to be a success.

That all depends on how you measure success. Hinder sells out- that's how they get financial success.
As far as long term success, Hinder won't see any trip to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, unless they are honoring someone else.

I don't like Hinder and you're right - they will likely never make the HoF, but neither will this version of GnR other than Axl and probably Dizzy. Maybe Tommy makes it for his other work (not likely, but I'm not a Replacements expert) and nobody else has a chance.
I'd say Hinder has as much credibility to talk about music as Pitman, Dizzy, Frank, and anybody else that is more or less a hanger on to GnR. Where would most of these guys be without GnR? Sure you can say the same about Axl and Slash, but at least they contributed to what made GnR successful, not grabbed on after the heyday to make a few dollars (not that there's anything wrong with making money doing what you love).

I'll post it here rather than start a new thread. I saw a mention on CNN. Pretty cool, they were playing UYI era footage of SCOM in concert & the anchor (red-head, maybe about 40) says "Sweet Jesus it's finally here" (I think but now that I type it out, that doesn't sound right. Politically incorrect or something. It was somelike that that though, Sweet something..) . Then she just went into the 14 years in the making & the Dr Pepper story. Apparently on Sunday you can download a free coupon. It was pretty cool, you could tell she was probably a little bit of a fan in her younger days.

Yeah I've never even heard of Hinder, but no doubt they are a load of rubbish.
But if they are/were GNR fans like the rest of us then they are more than entitled to give their opinion on the album surely? Just because they have a public platform to give it from, or because they're shit doesnt make it less valid. IMO.

Hinder is smart to come out and talk about GNR. Gets them some headlines, gets them hooked to GNR in google searches, earns them some cred among some circles. They aren't dumb. They know how to play the game. Good for them. They suck, but good for them for seizing the opportunity. I would in their position.
The substance of what they said means nothing. Some of us agree with them, obviously, some don't.

Seriously guys they have a very good point. Who cares who they are or what they've written. I agree with alot of it. I saw this kind of stuff coming a mile away. People who give legit reaons why they don't like it will be trashed and laughed at by some people on these boards because of what? They're in a band you don't like? Honestly guys get a grip. There's gonna be alot of people who won't like this and it doesn't mean they all lack credibility. What makes our opinioins more valid than Hinder's? The fact you dont' like their music? So what. They sound like they were once Gn'R fans too. Some of you might be musicians who frankly alot of us would think suck. Should we render your opinion usless?
