They fucked up big time now. This Rock Band thing was free and easy promo. So long 2008. So who has 2009 for the year it is released?
I wouldn't write this whole thing off just because the promotion hasn't gone the way you'd like it to. This is a coup for RB, what's the point in releasing the single before or on the day RB is released, there's no benefit to Harmonix and RB that way, as it's no longer a selling point if all and sundry have already heard the track. If there's been nothing from GNR in a few weeks to a months time then I'd be surprised (actually I wouldn't but that's a different story 
). Let RB have their coup then announce the song will be available to buy on whatever date and the album release will follow in November (for example). All that could come in one press release next week or the week after and it ties it all up.
Not saying any of that would or will happen but I think the doom and gloom because we've heard nothing else before RB is released is premature imo.

People are giving up far too quickly on the Rock Band 2 promotion. The big promotion will come at Christmas anyways for the holiday season. RB2 will be a HUGE SELLER. The PS3 & Wii versions aren't even out yet. Neither are the bundles, I don't think. Those are the big sellers usually.
Oh and by the way, did I mention how much I fucking love this song? It kicks major ass!
Exactly, i think most people are missing this point.
This is only for the 360 now, so they biggest push for this game hasn't even been seen yet. For right now, it's just X-Box promoting it, but later we are going to see PS3 and Wii promoting the living shit out of this thing. Also, a lot of kids will want this for Christmas, so there's another huge push.
I do agree that they are missing out on a good opportunity to really start promoting it early, but it's not 'too late' now.
I'm kinda dissapionted SR isn't on any commercials though.

Yeah I know, I saw the commercial today with the ACDC song in it. Even though you couldn't really hear the song that well and it only played for 10 seconds or so (at least it seemed that way) it would be cool to have a commercial with Shackler's playing in it.
