I'm one of the biggest Metallica fans on this board, and even I'm not sure about that new song Cyanide.
It sounds like a bunch of different parts thrown in there with nothing really bridging them together.

Mind you, the audio isn't the best quality, so I'll reserve my judgment until I hear the studio version.
I also read from a recent album review that this was one of the weaker songs on the album.

In other Metallica news, the group will host its own show, "Mandatory Metallica," on XM Sirius beginning Aug. 16. The program, which will run through Sept. 30, will feature non-stop Metallica music plus interviews conducted by band members with members of Linkin Park, Slipknot, Disturbed, Guns N' Roses and Mastodon, among others.[/i]

"So Frank, how the album coming together?"

...Not!

NO JOKE. Is that a Nirvana song?

Crazyness. I mean it sounds pretty damn good in my opinion and will be successful, but mannnnnnnnn... so much for any back to thrash stuff

A local radio station here said they're playing Cyanide in it's entirety tonight at 10pm (EST). Likely it'll be 10:15 as every night they play 3 Metallica songs at 10pm, {Mandatory Metallica} this will probably be last.

I'm not sure if they mean the live version or not. Worth tuning in.

Like NIN, this is a band that doesn't fuck around. They announced the release date, then mixed and mastered it.

Well they played it, only it was still the live version from Dallas. Cool to actually hear it on my stereo, not youtube & pc speakers. But again, I think Metallica, while a phenomenal band live, some songs have a different aura in the studio. More bass & deeper.  This song reminds me of the St Anger stuff lyrically & arrangement, I think it's a matter of the studio recording likely being better.
