$$$$$$$$$$

This movie has huge potential with that rating. It's far more restricted in its box office potential as an R flick. Matrix Reloaded was huge as an R movie, but I think WB really wants to tap into the teenage male audience that would be able to see this on their own with it being PG 13 but not if it's R. I will say this though. From everything I have seen and heard, it is quite a brutal film. There is no gore, there is no sex, there is no foul language. That is the only reason it's PG 13. Joker's actions are truly fucked up (kills off like 6 people in the first 5 frickin' minutes!) and Two-Face is gruesome looking.

I wouldn't want it rated R. R just means there's swearing, which is easy dialogue and not that interesting, and sex, which is completely useless in a Batman movie.

This movie will be awesome.

A little blood would be nice though. Blood is real. These movies are trying to be as gritty and real as possible, given the subject matter which is of course over the top. Having hardly any blood in the movie detracts from its impact I think. It makes the Joker's actions less frightening when he's killing people and it's so toned down like in the Prologue where like 6 people get shot and killed yet there's no blood whatsoever. The movie has a high body count and almost no blood. I don't want buckets of blood like a slasher horror movie or anything, but a realistic use of blood would be good to have.

Scroll down to the bottom and you can watch his video review. This guy gives a very good review about it. His major complaint was that it's too long in his opinion. He called Heath's performance STUNNING and that he feels he's a lock for a nomination and will probably win an Oscar. He said the first 2 hours was incredible but the last 30+ minutes wasn't necessary. "Nolan didn't need to tell this story in this particular film. He could have told this in a separate movie." Overall, he gave it 8.5 out of 10.

Every single review I've seen so far has said it's better than Begins. Every. Single. One. That is crazy because Begins was a fucking great movie. Even a guy from CHUD who hated Begins said he thought TDK was "okay to good" and "a big improvement over Begins." Ledger's Joker is getting unbelievable praise. Honestly, the word of mouth just surrounding him is going to make this thing huge at the box office. MovieTickets.com said that TDK has sold 8 times more tickets than Spidey 3 did with 21 days until the release date. That is crazy shit. I don't think it will beat Spidey's opening weekend, but it damn well could beat its opening day. The fanboy rush on this movie is going to be unbelievable, like Star Wars level. A big opening with word of mouth spreading like wildfire especially about Ledger means that this movie is going to be gigantic at the box office. Possibly $350 million or higher in North America. WB better take good fucking care of his daughter and his other family. They are going to be making huge profits from his incredible, legendary performance plus the unthinkable real life tragedy.

I have to say I am actually looking forward to this movie and may even get off my butt to go and see it at the theatre rather than waiting for it on DVD - which for me is really saying something.

With all the acclaim that Ledger has had for his role in the film (which I have no doubt he will live up to when I see it), it's a bloody tragedy that this was his last, although I suppose he went out on top!
