They were originally uploaded to Schaefer's own website, so I can't imagine that there would be any copyright issues...

(I must admit I've been confused with Snakepit '00 demos, because there are some songs from the studio that didn't make it to Ain't Life Grand... but I do have those, not the VR or The Project ones)
