Hey guys,

I'm going to see Slash tonight at the house of blues in Boston. First time ever seeing slash!

Does anybody know what time he usually goes onstage? Doors at 7, 1 opener.

Thanks!

All I can say is that if in doubt i'd bank on his coming out early rather than late. There were a couple of gigs on the last tour here that actually started slightly before the advertised stage time.

In Australia you'd expect something along the lines of

Doors: 7.00pm
Opening Act: 7.30-8.15
Stage set up: 20 to 30 mins
Slash : 8:45ish

Actually just noticed the event page:

Doors 7pm.
Show 8pm.

So i'd assume that 8pm is Hillbilly herald....so say 30 min set for them...off at 8.30...set up stage...slash should be on about 9...maybe 9.15 if they give HH a longer set.

Man, I remember seeing the original band in 1991 in Germany and when they were on I just stared at each man in turn thinking "you are so fucking cool".

FF,
Hope you enjoyed the gig, hearing Slash live is an experience...such an instantly recognisable style

First time seeing Slash is always special, but consider yourself kinda lucky to be seeing him for the first time just now, because this sober focused 2013 Slash, is playing the best guitar of his career in my opinion.
I first saw Slash live in 2005 on VR's Contraband tour, and while I wad blown away to be standing right in front of him, he was drunk as fuck and still kinda sloppy.

I'm hoping you got down to see the opening band too, because Slash tweeted something about jamming with them tonight.

Ok so thoughts...

Good time, fun concert, totally enjoyed myself, and was awesome to see Slash live.

Myles Kennedy - hits the notes, but has the stage presence of a wet noodle. Looked "just happy to be there." Really disappointed because it kind of sucked the energy out of some of the songs.

Todd Kearns - AWESOME. Why even have Myles IMO. He owns the stage, has a great voice, and is the only person on stage that belongs with Slash.

Drummer and Rhythm guys were totally peripheral and inconsequential, brought nothing.

Now Slash - NOBODY PLAYS SLASH'S STUFF BETTER THAN SLASH. period. End of story. Finck, Bucket, Fortus, DJ, Ron, all good guitarists, but nobody can duplicate Slash on his own material. Having said that, the Conspirators and Myles Kennedy just cannot match him. The songs, especially the old material, come off a little garage band'y.

During Rocket Queen, Slash broke out into about a 5 minute jam before the solo leading into the bridge. It was not good. Totally off time, lacked any feel, and was totally disappointing. A definite low-light.

Three highlight songs were Dr. Alibi, Anastasia, and Slither. All were very good, and honestly, was my first time hearing Anastasia and I was blown away.

Notable omissions were Mean Bone and Serial Killer. Really wanted to hear that old Snakepit material. Also, fairly certain they played Been There Lately which is not in the setlist.

Funny aside - sometimes Myles plays guitar and guess what? All of a sudden even Slash's band has 3 guitarists! smile

So, while it may seem that my review was generally negative, it really was a good, fun show. Just a little disappointed in some aspects. Having seen new-gnr twice now, and Slash just this once, (oh boy here it comes!) it is now painfully obvious to me how much Axl and Slash need each other. Regardless, if either is in town, i'd recommend going to see both.
