Re: Best solos off Slash and Apocalyptic Love
There are so many..... Not saying its the "best", but that solo to By the Sword has so much sex and passion in it. No shredding at all, pure class and taste. For a Shreddy solo Anastasia I guess.
Ghost
Nothing to Say
Watch This
Halo
Anastasia
By the Sword
Dr. Alibi
Starlight (very good but almost gets too Shreddy)
Back from Cali (pure taste, could have used one fast lick)

Great topic!
Although you seem to prefer Slash I's solos, I think he's doing a much better job on AL. By The Sword is pure genius, very fine playing, not too many notes, but the feel and melody is all over the place. That's why he's my favourite 6-stringer. I also dig the hell out of Watch This N' Starlight, while Nothing to Fear was a huge step into a new direction in Slash's career. I'd also mention the bonus(?) track Mother Maria, which is maybe even better that By The Sword.
However Anastacia is an all time great, without a doubt. I love No More Heroes' solo, at a point it sounds very chromatic. Not for Me is simple, but very Lies/Dust N' Bones-type slashy. I also like the solo of Halo, Standing in the Sun, Shots Fired, Carolina and Crazy Life a lot. Such a badass guitar album! My only complaint solo wise would be the title track and We Will Roam, which is basically Civil War II.

I forgot Mother Maria!! He is almost David Gilmore esque there. I think AL has better songs and riffage. All the solos are very good, but not sure how memorable some of the solos are, since some seem to be collections of Slash's signature licks, like standing in the sun. Not for Me and Far and Away have very tasty playing. I enjoy the solo to the tote track too!

Yeah, Far and Away is another great choice, something you wouldn't expect from him.
I find AL's solos more constructed and I hear less cliches there. Some songs, like Beautiful Dangerous or Gotten doesn't even have a solo, and Promise almost killed me with that note by note rip-off of Snakepit's Back and Forth Again

Beautiful Dangerous has a solo, just not a very structured one. It's not bad at all...
Re: Best solos off Slash and Apocalyptic Love
The Guitar on Vengence is mine from back in '08 was excellent

Gotten does have a solo. It has the best solo on the entire album. Very Noel Gallagher, simple but overwhelmingly powerful.

I don't consider neither BD's not Gotten's "solo" a solo. The Fergie one is just jerking off a bit on the guitar with no ration, while the second was less than a minimalistic approach. I hate that. Gotten is an amazing song and would have deserved a fabulous Slash solo.

+1 for Vengeance is Mine.
Some great solos on both those albums though.
On AL i really like Shots Fired, and the ending of the solo in You're a Lie has really grown on me - it's a cool little run, and of course Anastasia - which I think it's slash's greatest work in decades if not ever.
