Re: Slash Fall Tour 2012
The Detroit show is this Saturday. I'm off on Sunday so we'll be able to tear it up downtown before and after.
Not sure what you'll think of the new songs, but nobody, and I mean nobody, can play the GnR stuff like Slash does. I know you love the new band, and I've said several times this lineup is good and covers the classic material well, but they just don't have the right feel in their playing. A sober Slash is playing technically as well as he ever has, yet when he plays the GnR stuff, it still feels like the wasted guy is playing it, but playing it spot on while keeping that sloppy feel to it. I know it sounds like a contradiction and I feel stupid typing it, but I can't describe it any other way.
I said it awhile ago and most people don't really get it, but to the musical ear Slash is every bit as irreplaceable to the GnR sound as Axl is. Most people are singer/lyric people and they don't understand and that's fine, but Slash (and Izzy) were so vital to the sound of the band.
