I'm really curious about how they can deliver a custom tailored setlist like the add suggested yet play the classic hits from AFD to CD and it not be a repeat of what they've been doing.
I'm not even saying that to give the band shit - I'm just saying the stuff they play at the moment are the hits from AFD, the majors from UYI and some CD. Wanting something they've not done before plus wanting the classics seems like two mutually exclusive ideas at this point. Maybe break out Double Talking Jive and Coma or something really left field like that to go with the AFD stuff??
I am interested in new covers if we get any. In my opinion Axl's version of sailing was one of the most beautiful things I'd heard. The way his voice soared in the high parts really got me. So i'm not totally against covers.

That might be tough, but I will see what I can do. I guess the good news is mid-week should be cheaper.
Edit: I can stay at Bally's for $30 total T - Th. I need to see what I can do tomorrow at work in terms of vacation time. I think I have 5 days left, but not 100% sure.
Edit II: I can stay for free if I only stay T and W...I may go that route.

I'd like to think there's no way they could do the same/similar setlist every night for 12 nights at the same venue, but it could happen. Vegas is flooded with 1000's of tourists every day, so they'd potentially be playing to different crowds every night even though they're in the same city. So they could always hang their hat on that and use that as an excuse.
I would expect them to maybe change up the order a little during the run, maybe add in a different song or two, but nothing drastic. I'd expect some guest spots from Izzy, maybe Robin, Brain.
As for Slash. I know the guy loves to play anywhere, anytime. But I think he'll pass on this one. He'll probably be busy creating new music. What a crazy idea that is!

In theory, they could be writing and recording in the downtime in Vegas...12 shows spread out over almost a month leaves a lot of time to do other things.

It would make perfect sense. DJ lives in Vegas. He and Axl are pals. I'm sure DJ has all the necessary tools, a studio, etc. The whole gang will be there. They could easily meet ahead of time, continue to work during the residency. All works fine for me.

I first thought it would be just twelve shows playing the same UCAP tour, then I thought it could be something related to a new album...
Then I saw the artwork and thought I was right all along.
At the most, a re-release of Chinese Democracy.. If you'd expect a new album anytime before end of year 2013, give up your hope.
Jarmo keeps mentioning how he hopes CD is re-released the way it was meant to be. Not that he knows that's the plan or anything, but I kind of get that sense. Let's face it. New music doesn't seem to be a priority at this point and the last time we heard Axl on TMS he seemed committed to pushing CD for some time.
Obviously I'd rather new music, but at this point, as lame as it would seem, I'd take a re-release as long as it offered SOMETHING different. Then can we finally close the book on this saga once and for all?

Crazy you'd have to ask that question, but it's probably not far out there. I don't think Axl would have a problem with it, but it wouldn't surprise me one bit if "management" thought it'd be a good idea.

That is true. It's hard to get work done in Vegas I'd imagine, though I've never actually tried. I guess they can go two ways. Treat it as a business trip, or a vacation. Vacation would probably be the safe bet.
