Re: Bumblefoot not happy? Speculating....
the funny thing is they have completed a shitload of touring on their own under Team Brazil
see, i don't agree with that. Axl has been compelled to tour. he has settlements to pay, album recording costs to find, staff bills to cover.
The other management got fired because (a) they probably didn't 'get' Axl and (b) they wanted a reunion.
They are touring now because Axl needs the money.
French Wedding Band?
Tell that shit to 1992 Axl and he'd have kicked you in the balls.

Sky Dog wrote:the funny thing is they have completed a shitload of touring on their own under Team Brazil. If they get an album out, it will be hard to continue the criticism as they will have done more in 2 years than all the "proper" management did in a decade.
But is it funny?
A conspiracy theorist could suggest they obstructed and warped prior management's relationship with Axl to maintain their own positions of influence with him. Theoretically then after sabotaging events for the better part of a decade, they then exercised the ultimate coup.....leveraging control of his personal life and their status as adopted family to obtain business control also "no more managers or we quit being your family". Thus...the "family based" management is able to achieve more because it doesn't have to work 24/7 to prevent reunions or other events that could derail their status.
Sound paranoid? But then you read how Bucket was bullied out of the band and so on...you think about how Slash was denied access to Axl when he showed up to resolve it...how people like Jarmo were adopted into the fold and given unimaginable access to the band as long as he installed a bunch of censorship of opinion and only publishes selective truths....and all of a sudden it only seems partially paranoid.
Imo they're not smart enough to have done that consciously.
Subconsciously though, very possible.
Whatever their competence they at least have all their self interest resting with Axl, and that might be a slight improvement from before, all things considered. For example, for a guy that is demanding and particular to the degree Axl is, the only people who might bother to put up with it and work with it, is the folks that have no other job prospects.

Also, more recently, Duff was denied access to Axl and, if he didn't have entered the room anyway (the "I've seen him naked before" episode), they would've managed it to be something else than just two old friends meeting.
I believe that they twist and manipulate things in order to keep control of Axl.

Haven't read that, but might like to.
Got a link?
I'd like to read more about that, too. I only remember bizzaro stories from years ago about porn and chicken cages and him being sick and whatever from 2003. Not sure what was forum garbage or what.

too much speculation there....you have no idea why they are touring so much. In my opinion, they are having too much fun (at least the majority of time over the last year) to assume they are compelled to do anything. Axl seems very happy at the moment. I will just go with the facts. He completed (fully completed) a lot of touring over the last 2 years. Period.:peace:
Re: Bumblefoot not happy? Speculating....
"Beggars and hangers-on, they chip it away, bury your soul in the river, 'cause the end is here to stay"
"The devil smiles and laughs at me, Says you'll be back, just wait and see, You know I've heard this all before, And I say, You can keep your high life in the hills, Your cocaine lies and whiskey thrills, I don't need you anymore,"
In Slash's latest album, are the lyrics wrote by him?
They seem VERY fit, even for the fight between them aiming popularity:
"The only thing that makes me whole again,
Is to stand right here before you in the sun, oh,
I'll keep running til the very end"
Re: Bumblefoot not happy? Speculating....
And you ain't been out in days
Will the sunshine burn your face
Preserve your precious skin
I'll go out, you stay in
What the hell do you want to be?
Following the trends that never end
I can't stand the parties you attend
So what the hell do you want with me?
So if you think I need some help
Climb out of your own shell
It'll make you think

This is all stuff you're assuming.
ANd bands have been doing private parties, functions, weddings, birthdays forever. In the last ten years it's become very, very lucrative. Beyonce does it, Jay Z does it, Kanye West does it, Taylor Swift does it, Rhianna does it, Michael Jackson did it, Elton John does it, Madonna does it, Rolling Stones do it.
But not a whole lot of bands are offered it, though.
I don't know where it was that people forgot that performing is how all musicians make a living. It's how they make money. They can't rely on record sales anymore.
Re: Bumblefoot not happy? Speculating....
First off,
the best-ever description I've ever heard of Guns was that they started as carefully managed sell-outs they are ending as less-carefully managed sell-outs.
And if you think about it for a few minutes, it's actually quite apt. Live Like a Suicide was published by Geffen, covertly under the UZI Suicide moniker. This doesn't contradict the band's artistic merit or ambition, simply it just points out that they saw the money and took it, wasting millions on drugs, alcohol and whatever.
So, it's a bit of a curate's egg to say Guns have suddenly sold out. That much isn't news.

Sure. Corporate shows are probably the lowest of the low, but high-profile artists have participated.
Clearly fed up, in 1996 Molson held its first Blind Date Concert. The concept, which has since been exported to the U.S. by sister company Miller Beer, is simple: hold a contest in which winners get to attend an exclusive concert staged by Molson and Miller in a small club — much smaller than the venues where one would otherwise see these megastars.
And here's the clincher: keep the name of the band secret until it steps on stage. Anticipation mounts about the concert (helped along by national ad campaigns building up said anticipation), but the name on everyone's lips isn't David Bowie, the Rolling Stones, Soundgarden, 1NXS or any of the other bands that have played the Dates, it's Molson and Miller.
[...] The rock stars, turned into high-priced hired guns at Molson's bar mitzvah party, continued to find sad little ways to rebel. Almost every musician who played a Blind Date acted out: Courtney Love told a reporter, "God bless Molson.... I douche with it." The Sex Pistols' Johnny Lydon screamed "Thank you for the money" from the stage, and Soundgarden's Chris Cornell told the crowd, "Yeah, we're here because of some fucking beer company... Labatt's."
But the tantrums were all incidental to the main event, in which Molson and Miller were the real rock stars and it didn't really matter how those petulant rent-a-bands behaved.
It's how they make money. They can't rely on record sales anymore.
Here's the clincher:
"He's not motivated by money, he's motivated by his art." - Baz
"Axl Rose was one of the only artists I ever worked with who was never motivated by money. He consistently put the quality of his artistic output above all." - Tom Zutaut
"W, Axl Rose is not interested in fame, money, popularity or what the New York Times or any other paper for that matter might think of him." - Merck
I think you and I are on the same page here, but as you can see, many of Axl's cohorts have done their damnedest to prove otherwise. That's where the rub comes for many people - Axl is not motivated enough by money to go for a reunion, but he is motivated enough by money to play at a French wedding.
Is Axl crazy enough to gamble his mortgage for his obsession on Slash? Place your bets!
